everything seems to imply the opposite of their delusions. ‘high elves’ are returning or were always there in quel’thalas and the only ones joining the alliance now are voids
And that was when Blood elves were fun. Playing a Blood elf in 2022 feels weird.
We know 90% of all High Elves in Quel’thelas were murdered. 10% remained of that 1% was exiled and remained in the Alliance.
Auric Sunchaser is in the Alliance and represents the High Elves at the Sunwell.
They were not isolationists, these Farstriders and other exiles wanted to remain with the Alliance and disagreed with the methods of the Thalassian government on feeding on mana as well as their allegiance to the Horde. In the Hinterlands the High Elves even share their homes with the Draenei. In Dalaran the High Elven population remains Alliance aligned as the Silver Covenant. You can’t be serious… smh
No, the new customizations show that Blood Elves who haven’t fed on fel energies since BC are no longer showing signs of Fel corruption as their eyes are returning to their natural color of blue. While others who are light infused now have yellow eyes. You should be race changing to a troll, because you are making things up to justify your positions.
The Alliance aligned the Dalaran High Elves are led by Vareesa Windrunner we have her representing them as recently as in the Shadowlands cinematic where she stands with Alleria Windrunner at the judgment of Sylvanas.
Auric Sunchaser represents the ones that return from Outland and in BFA formed the Auric’s Angels to fight against the Horde on island expeditions.
The Highvale elves of the Hinterlands are led by Saldor Shallowbrook. These Hinterland elves remain with the Alliance. We know that the Farstrider Lodge in Loch Modan was stationed by Vyrin Swiftwind one of the surviving elves who chose to remain in the Alliance. We know that Theramore used to house another population of exiles, but as of Cataclysm we don’t know what happened to most of them, but we do know that the 7th Legion High Elves are still being led by Vas the Unstable and as recently as BFA these high elves were helping against their blood elven brothers in the Arathi Highlands.
Blizz said the entire race.
90% of all high elves were killed in the sacking of Quel’thalas.
They made no claim that it was specifically Quel’thalas’ population, they indicated all high elves.
9% of that 10% changed their name to blood elf, the rest (1% of that 10%) either didn’t return, were exiled or left on their own and retained the high elf name.
Prince Kael’thas Sunstrider returned home to post Scourge attack to find 90% of the Elves in Quel’thelas were wiped out, he then proceeded to rename them Blood Elves.
Here’s the quote:
"The few high elves to survive the Scourge’s invasion quickly grew ill and apathetic. It became clear that they had become addicted to the Sunwell’s arcane energies. Being constantly suffused in magic had fundamentally changed their race. Now that the source of their magic was gone, they were suffering acute pangs of withdrawal.
Prince Kael’thas returned home and rallied all the survivors he could find: approximately 90% of the surviving high elves. He declared that these survivors would now bear a new name–the [blood elves]"(https://wowpedia.fandom.com/wiki/The_Warcraft_Encyclopedia/Blood_Elves)–in honor of their fallen people. The blood elves no longer consider themselves high elves, and they have different priorities and behaviors than their high elf kindred.

A quote you’re misreading. We’re told the elves Kael’thas returned home to rally accounted for “90% of the surviving high elves”, and the very next passage concerns the missing 10% that didn’t become blood elves.
“In consequence, there are so few high elves left on Azeroth today that they cannot be considered a race in anything other than the biological sense. High elves do not gather in any significant numbers, nor do they act as a coordinated whole. They are a very small group of individuals scattered all over the world. As such, they do not have common opinions or goals. Indeed, modern high elves cannot even truly be said to have a culture–only a past filled with glory and regret.”
All this stuff is super old lore though. Newer material like the UVG states that the majority of Alliance-aligned high elves broke away from Quel’Thalas under Anasterian Sunstrider’s rule, because they felt greater loyalty to their friends in the Alliance than to their “insular and isolationist” homeland. I presume they, in Stormwind and Dalaran and wherever else, make up the bulk of that 10% of high elves who never became blood elves.
it was 90% of the race
youre kind always say this but literally nothing states this anywhere. would love a citation. and literally nothing puts the 1% that for whatever bizarre reason decided to not just accept the rebranding were then exiled and went or remained in alliance. again NOTHING says that the 1% remained or joined the alliance and given the canonical status of alliance high elves that they were met with cold receptions and get mistaken for blood elves constantly, as well as the devs saying the same thing with there only being a couple, its obvious where they all were during this time. if they were alliance this whole time how the hell could they get mistaken for blood elves and get a cold reception? lmao
no high elves were exiled until rommath came back much later with new teachings to cope with the loss of the sunwell. so already your interpretation makes no sense. and only some high elves were exiled for protesting mana tapping living beings
renthar hawkspear himself says they were fighting as hard as any elf to reclaim their land but were kicked out because of their beliefs. so i can prove ‘high elves’ have been in quel’thalas the entire time and nothing states differently but you cant prove your claim
outside of quel’thalas right now there was only the few elves jaina took to later found theramore and aurics elves. theres no other groups to cite for your fanfiction
hes in quel’thalas representing his group i believe. no other group needs representation. and thats his last lore location and most likely wrapped up the allerian stronghold storyline for them. you just cant accept it because of your obsession
then why simply travel south to abandoned farstrider lodges?
and, oh yea, WHY WERE THEY STILL IN QUEL’THALAS AFTER THEY RENAMED THE RACE if they wanted to join the alliance? if they wanted to remain alliance then why were they in quel’thalas and later FORCED TO LEAVE. LOL
agreed. but you people only accepted this narrative when blue eyes was datamined and saw the writing on the wall and to save face changed the script. previously you would argue it was permanent. so blue eyes would have to come from something like aruic and his lot coming back home. those were your old arguments. dont creep away from them now
kirin tor is neutral
you bring up vas
its funny because he identifies as kirin tor
which again is neutral
oh and vereesa tried to join the horde through sylvanas after mop
It isn’t a problem even if he doesn’t. He’s the Lord Regent.

Where does this number come from?
one of the books, but idr which one.
I checked the wowwiki and it linked the race description on the wow site as its source for the 90%.
That page does not mention 90% or describe only 1 in 10 survived.
One can theoretically be Silver Covenant and NOT Kirin Tor. Vereesa is a prime example, she is not a member of the Kirin Tor, hence why she could not truly object to the Sunreavers joining it. The interesting thing about the factions is you can be a part of MORE THEN one faction.
And? The blood elves as an entire race tried to rejoin the Alliance though Varian during MoP.
Well then I’d guess it did say 90% at one point and it hasn’t contradicted that since.
The Warcraft Encyclopedia they released just before TBC. It’s in the “Third War” section of this article.
I remember the blood elves’ old race page restated it too, but the low effort updates they rolled out a couple months ago dumbed all the lore blurbs down to only two or three lines.
Kael’thas in Revendreth also mentions the 1 in 10 number if you chat with him during certain phasing.
Yeah, many websites say that 90% figure but no one seems to actually source its origine.
Its like one of the only times every Blizzard actually gave us a real number to contend with… but nobody seems to be able to actually show its origin.
So the real source was expunged? damn that sucks.
huh really? ok thanks!
The wow site has since been updated for it’s races. It used to state 90% of the kingdom of Quel’Thalas was killed during Arthas’ assault on it with the Scourge.
The fact that Blood Elves are High Elves speaks for itself.
The new addition specifically was called High Elf customizations which is redundant for Blood Elves unless they are returning, even disregarding Auric

We have Lanesh who the devs have stated has a story we just haven’t seen it? If he’s in ripped scryer clothing which it looks like he is, plus being around since MOP it seems High Elves from Outland do have a narrative of returning to Quel’thalas joining the Blood Elf narrative and continuation of the High Elf legacy.
90 percent of High Elves died after the attack by Arthas and the destruction of the Sunwell,
Quite a few of those deaths may have been from magic withdrawl.
I think you’re misreading what I wrote. 90% died so again, 9 in 10 are dead in Quel’thelas. Of that population most became Blood Elves rallied under Kael’thas Sunstrider and only 1% chose not remain in Quel’thelas and instead chose exile and Lorthemar didn’t have the desire to execute those who disagreed with him so he pushed them out. Dissent basically wasn’t tolerated of using fel magic and consuming mana from living creatures. The old Blood Elf racial.
This is where lore gets murky. We know not enough could be rallied initially from the population in Quel’thelas who chose their old allies. Then in WOTLK we get introduced to a new faction of High Elves led by Vareesa who leads the Silver Covenant. Rallying a militia and martialing a force. They even had enough numbers to send forces to act as an auxiliary in the 7th Legion through the war against the Scourge right up to BFA.
Between Warcraft 3 and BC we knew that the exiles and few stragglers remained in the lodges among the Alliance, a large population lived in Theramore and Stormwind. When we get to Outland we meet Allerian Stronghold elves who were led by Alleria Windrunner. These are led by Auric Sunchaser. These are not elves who saw what happened in Quel’thelas and the Scourge attack.
By the time we get to Wotlk we meet hundreds if not a thousand plus elves led by three main High Elves. Vereesa Windrunner of Dalaran, Vas within the 7th Legion under the banner of the Kirin Tor and by extension Vereesa, Auric Sunchaser leading the Outland High Elves.
We know that by Cataclysm the High Elves of the Silver Covenant were organized enough and strong enough to send forces to Quel’thelas at the behest of their ranger general Halduron Brightwing to stop the Amani incursion supported by the Zandalari.
In Mist of Pandaria they were strong enough to rally again and this time even fight the Blood Elves in Dalaran and their leadership to arrest, detain and execute any Blood Elf who wouldn’t accept their leaders demands.
They even made the main opposition within the Kirin Tor Offensive on the Isle of Thunder. These High Elves are now not only capable of providing back up for Dalaran, but for Quel’thelas itself until the events which resulted in the destruction of Theramore. They, in spite their losses, kept being the backbone of the Alliance’s 7th Legion mages right into BFA.
I’m not saying that the lore is perfect only that the 1% who left Quel’thelas in exile didn’t stand idle and many joined other factions within the Alliance. Some even were strong enough to create an auxilary militia and even provide support in many campaigns over the years.
That’s before we even talk about Void Elves who we don’t even know what their numbers are from a small population of Blood Elves turn Void to a population growing by the day with new recruits. We don’t know and can’t know, but in Stormwind we see Void Elves talking to High Elves and it appears to be cordial if not friendly. Especially considering that the unofficial leader of the High Elves in any major capacity is Vereesa who is sister to the leader of the Void Elves. Alleria Windrunner if anything would have been the former leader of a large population of Allerian Stronghold elves which are now led by Auric Sunchaser who sent forces to represent his group as recently as BFA and who is independent from the ones sent by the Void Elves. If you combine Void and High Elves you have a small and growing community. Nothing compared to the Blood Elves, but enough to martial a force strong enough to supply the war efforts on several continents and act as specialist troops.
nice fanfiction
everyone is still waiting for your citation that ALL the elves that for w.e reason never accepted the rebranding were exiled and joined the alliance
i honestly dont know how these people can make these claims with a straight face
…high elf remnants have chosen to rejoin the Alliance in recent years, arriving to a cold reception.[2] Modern high elves are a rare sight, and are commonly mistaken for blood elves.[15][16]…High elves did not gather in any significant numbers and are a very small group of individuals.
