Quel'thalas belongs to the Alliance

My thoughts: “Oh hey, let’s go to the lore forums to see if I can aquire new lore information.”

See’s this thread: “ummm… am I in GD?”

Alleria and her ragged band of deserters and traitors don’t get a vote.

I’m fairly certain this thread WAS in the General Discussion section and then moved here by moderation.

Ugh, just ugh.

Quel’Thalas isn’t a democracy. No one gets a vote.

Instead of people shrieking Hardcore and Casual at one another, it’s just people shrieking Head Canon and Strawman at one another instead. Welcome.

First things first, I want to sincerely apologize for not having replied sooner. I became incredibly busy with IRL stuff and haven’t had time to read the forums since my last post, and I know that is not at all ideal for discussion.

Secondly, I am genuinely confused as to where you are getting your lore from. It’s been made clear several times by multiple canon lore sources that Thalassian elves who drained mana from living creatures do not use the Quel’dorei name, and that all who refused to use such techniques were exiled, not just those who loudly protested. It’s not some fanfiction I made up, it’s canon:

The exile was binary, there was no third option to stay in Quel’Thalas while not mana tapping living creatures.

i care

none of your citations state ALL ‘high elves’ are exiled and there are none in quel’thalas. they are reflective of those individuals only. no one cares about the name. if the name mattered they would have been exiled immediately not after kael had been running around in outland and eventually sent rommath back

surely you have a citation for this? why would you be exiled if you didnt protest? lmao. and im sure there were some ‘blood elves’ that shared the same mindset but it wasnt worth leaving over. i mean where would they go? dalaran is in ruins and was persecuting them. we know going to stormwind youd only get a cold reception. thats why renthars lot just went south to an abandoned farstrider lodge. LOL. the only lore that exists for modern ‘high elves’ literally states SOME were exiled not ALL. if only some were exiled and not ALL, what the hell do you think that means

please learn the definitions of those words. thank you

until you find that citation that says “THERE ARE NO ‘HIGH ELVES’ IN QUEL’THALAS BECAUSE THEY ARE ALL EXILED” you have nothing but your lotr fanfictions. theres literally 6 elves that live among the alliance. you people seriously need to move on, void elves can look like exactly like a blood elf now

Quel’thalas belongs to the Amani trolls.

You’re right, they don’t have that particular wording; instead they state that only Sin’dorei who mana tapped living creatures were allowed to stay. All elves who followed Rommath’s teachings were considered Sin’dorei, regardless of faction loyalty (but not all who called themselves Sin’dorei at the time took up those teachings, more on that in a moment). All those who refused to partake in the mana tapping of living creatures were exiled. By definition, Quel’dorei are not among those allowed to stay.

I just gave you one, the short story from MoP. The speaker in question is Talithar Swiftwind, a Blood Elf, talking about the estrangement between him and his wife, Vyrin Swiftwind, a High Elf. He chose to engage in mana tapping living creatures and remained in Quel’Thalas as a Blood Elf. She refused on principle and was exiled. Moreover, his wording of “we sin’dorei” implies that she identified as a Blood Elf as well up until her exile.

Please provide your citation for this. I genuinely have no idea where you are getting the idea that only those who protested were exiled.

I find it strange that you keep insisting that I’m a High Elf fan, when you’re the one arguing so fervently in their favor. I’m a Sin’dorei fan, I have no interest in playing an elf that rejects the name change.

all youre doing is giving me your helfer interpretation of the lore

Some high elves were exiled from Quel’Thalas after the Third War.[14]

please show me where it says all. show me anything that says there are no ‘high elves’ in quel’thalas because they are ALL exiled and when this decree happened

tell me where they would go as well at this point in time. that will be quite enjoyable to digest

do you really not know the difference between some and all? i assure you there is a massive difference

Wowpedia is a fan site, not a lore source. Wowpedia’s use of the word “some” is not a sticking point.

thats nice but you guys like to claim that only 90% of the high elves became blood elves and the rest were standing around in dalaran ruins dumb enough waiting to be persecuted by garithos and his goons or something

then it turns out they were in quel’thalas still thanks to therons short story. all you ever had were jainas/theramores paltry few(now dead) and a couple refugees in stormwind and boralus who are mistaken for blood elves everywhere they go. lmao

The ones that got persecuted by Garithos were Blood Elves. They were lead by Kael’thas.

same race pal. same race that creeped out the guards in the rts

What Elves call themselves is not dependent on race. This has been the case since the Kaldorei Empire.

ok?

Your citation is wording from a fan-edited encyclopedia that, in context, is distinguishing between elves who returned to Quel’Thalas after it left the Alliance and those who did not, rather than saying that only a portion of the High Elves who lived in Quel’Thalas were exiled. It’s also not a primary source, unlike mine, which are. The citation that particular phrase points to on the wiki is In the Shadow of the Sun, which states that the exile was based on mana tapping, not protesting as you’ve claimed, and gives no indication whatsoever that any “High Elves” remained in Quel’Thalas after the exile.

I’ve already done this, several times, with multiple sources. High Elves by definition don’t mana tap living creatures, and only elves that did were allowed to remain after Lor’themar enacted the exile. Indeed, between the official Warcraft encyclopedia and Talithar’s wording, there’s an implication that individuals like Renthar Hawkspear and Vyrin Swiftwind may have identified as Sin’dorei up until they were exiled.

Take it up with the Warcraft Encyclopedia, because that’s where that claim comes from. Also, I Am Not A High Elf Fan Or Alliance Main, despite how inconvenient that is to your argument. You’re the one acting desperate to play a high elf, not me.

it is not based on mana tapping. it is from creating civil unrest via protesting. thats literally not only the only way to find out but if you arent disturbing anything NO ONE CARES. you really think they walked around asking every elf this stupid question and they got exiled that way? you could have just kept quiet and kept to your principles and kept your home LOL

thats why when people want to protest something they go out in public and shut stuff down. they dont stay inside of their home and protest where it affects nothing. LOL

that logic works both ways. in the story A GROUP is exiled. it is never stated ALL anywhere in the story or any other source in the game or out

youve given examples that only apply to renthars elves and vyrin. NOT ALL. please learn the english language. a group =/= ALL

see unlike you i can at least admit this is a possibility. but it also proves how little meaning ‘high elf’ means in modern times

the encyclopedia doesnt state that of the 10% of remaining high elves were HuRRRRR AlWaYs WiTh AlLiAnCe. it just states some did not rename for w.e reason. and we will never know unless a dev writes it in the game or tells us

the only elves that were alliance after the second war, were jaians/theramores dead elves who were priests and a couple of mages. no rangers, the farstrider army completely withdrew back to their forests(home)

ok void elf

you are the one that cant even back your claims. and i dont need to pretend, high elves are blood elves

And the High Elves that went with Alleria to Draenor, including rangers.

It’s also been a long time since Burning Crusade, given the orphans we met back then are grown up now, Blizzard can make up any population they want with that. Or even without that, given any other population in the game.
