So I’ve been grinding regular expeditions for mounts and stuff and I find these to be pretty fun. While the objective is generally the same, the dynamic feeling of no two runs being the same make these exponentially more fun than grinding M+ which is the same damn boring crap every time (no idea how people do more than one a week).
Anyway, I’m not sure how they would do it, but I think it would be fun if these were a bigger part of the game. They could start by increasing rewards and implementing an mmr system. Either way, I would welcome island expeditions as another meaningful activity.
To be fair, everything feels awful rn. M+, raiding, island expeditions, rated and non-rated PVP, WQs , lore, etc. … everything feels terrible. Not sure about pet battles though, I’ve heard it’s the only balanced thing atm.
Yeah the xmogs are effing awesome, those are what I’m chasing (in addition to the mounts).
I struggle to enjoy most things PvE related in this game because of, well, the way the game is. Mostly everything can be attributed to not having enough gear and once you have said gear you can beat the content. And that’s okay, I don’t have to love the PvE when the PvP is good but well there’s my problem lol.
I just really appreciate the more dynamic nature of the islands. I also think the ai is really cool and would love to see the game go more in that direction.
Well let’s compare the MDI for example. You’re competing against another group but all you’re doing is your normal Dragonslayer crap and have zero influence on the enemy team’s progress. You just hope one of them has a brain fart or both your outlaw rogues have better rolls than theirs. It’s not riveting gameplay at all.
Not saying the islands are perfect. But I also like that your main objective isn’t just killing the enemy. At the same time, I think it’s cool that you can try to overcome a deficit by killing the enemy team.
To each their own but I’ve actually fell asleep doing the expeditions. When I was doing them I was asking myself “wtf is going on in here? Is this an actual part of the game?!”
If I could actually find a group to do them… would be great!
Edit: One time I que’d up with some pve heroes and the player team against us absolutely obliterated us but we still ended up winning? That was kind of odd.
Do people even queue these?
I still have to knock out my achievements for it and I’m dreading it just because I kinda’ suspect queue times are obscene.
