That hasn’t been my experience wearing blue gear across 6 toons.
Sounds like a skill issue.
Your team isn’t dying because of gear. Your team is dying because the other team pushed their buttons better.
The only problem is getting the sparks, which have a high RNG chance to drop from PVP.
Do a weekly. The first one each week guarantees a spark.
If the crafted greens didn’t cost 3 to 5k a piece, people might actually go this route. We’re talking throw away starter gear. Remember how many gear slots we have. If it costs more than 30 to 50g a piece, no one will bother.
I’m aware malicia’s hoard grants half a spark, but that is still incredibly slow. You only get a full spark if you do both of Malicia’s quests, which isn’t always viable if you don’t want to do rated BGs and those are up that week. So as easy as it is to get stuff crafted, getting the sparks is the limiting factor, and are very RNG based. I’m pretty sure M+ awards them faster.
I checked the regional historical pricing for the crafted gear.
Where, Regional = average of all NA servers, Historical = 60 day weighted average (weighted towards more recent price data).
And this was the data I got
Armor Type | Price For All slots(g) |
---|---|
Cloth | 29136 |
Leather | 31305 |
31840 | |
Plate | 31395 |
It’s expensive but what else are people going to use gold on.
Also you can create crafting orders to craft the gear. If you provide the mats you can get the items for whole lot cheaper.
RP consumables.
I’m not trolling, it’s a real expense I have to budget for.
Level professions.
Buy mats for crafted epic gear. Pay the crafter.
Upgrade heirlooms.
Transmogs.
LFR repairs.
Build a castle.
You only get a half a spark each week, you don’t get a full spark if you do both quests, so you are fine just doing the unrated one.
M+ doesn’t give sparks at all unless you happen to be behind. Only the weekly PvP quests and the weekly Niffen rep quest give them if you are caught up. And if you are behind, even random BG wins give them and at a high rate at that.
That’s only if you’re up to date. You can get multiple sparks per week as catch up if you’re behind.
Yes, this would apply if you’re behind. Such as gearing a new alt character, the topic of the discussion.
They do not.
I recently leveled a mage to 70 in the past two weeks. In those two weeks I have gotten 2 sparks. 1 from the quest in Loamm, the other gotten through Malicia’s weekly quest and one I got from a PVP win. I have been queueing BGs and RSS on that mage nonstop, and even hit 1800 before I even got my second piece of gear crafted.
You are doing something wrong or aren’t paying attention when you get sparks or something, my rogue has only done 14 random wins and nothing else and has 5 full sparks and another half. The catchup is not slow and it does work with randoms.
Yeah I have all of my sparks on my priest alt. I’ve only done RBGs and randoms. I haven’t even stepped foot in the new zone.
How could it be my fault for “not paying attention” or “doing something wrong”? How could I possibly be doing something wrong if it only requires PVP wins to get the sparks? I’ve won several games of RSS and BGs since leveling that mage to 70 and gearing them, as I said, I’ve hit 1800 while only having been able to craft one (1) piece of gear.
If you’re insinuating that I have shards that I’m simply unaware of, I don’t. I have used the search function in my inventory and my reagent bank for “Splintered Spark of Shadowflame” and there is nothing there. I have one (1) whole spark, one shard from the aforementioned weekly Malicia quest, and the other one I got from some random PVP win.
It’s hard to miss these things because I am actively looking for them, as I need various pieces of gear that I simply cannot craft right now because of a spark bottleneck.
This place is called epic battlegrounds
That’s more gold than most of my alts have in the first place. Then I would want to have gold for gems and enchants once I got the honor gear, and again once I finally managed to replace the honor gear with conquest gear.
Any way you put it, that is an absurd amount of gold how little use you will get out of these throw away crafted greens, not to mention that even with them on, you will still be little more than fodder for those in conquest gear. Maybe you don’t mind just tossing 30k into the trash, but I would have to pass and apparently I’m not the only one who shares this opinion.
Yeah my perspective is probably skewed since I just buy a wow token when my gold is getting low. I don’t enjoy farming gold so 275k for 20$ is a pretty good deal for me.
That’s not even pay to win though, it’s pay to still lose.
There is so many avenues to get gear it’s actually astounding people are still complaining about it to me
- Q a few epics and get full blues
- Join randoms go 40/60 for an afternoon and get a set
- Join any of the groups I post on the forums daily about randoms/yolos that literally have no requirement for you to be good at the game or have gear
- Send boxes from your main
- Buy greens off the AH
- buy the patterns and level the professions, this + making the items is going to be FAR less than 31k
This isn’t exactly the most truthful thing ever btw
You can craft the green items with crafting orders with just the mats
Ye i’m gunna try that out on my warrior to see how fast they get crafted. I will give a tip cause i’m not evil. I’ll post my results here.
Since mats are cross realm the prices should be the same for everyone.
You buy the pieces that are dirt cheap on the AH, and then craft the rest
You’re looking at under 10k if you do it right
I think most people that complain about gear in the current patch are just extremely lazy tbh
You can make 10k just from qing normal/heroic dungeons as a healer in an afternoon in dungeonfinder farming the bonus loot bags you get
