Well then it’s really not about playing for fun, is it? You want to win without trying as hard, or to remove the people who try harder than you.
You can refuse to do whatever you like, and play however you like. That doesn’t mean they should break what does work to make the games closer because you can’t be arsed.
If the majority of people who subscribed to Classic to do pvp had the intent to take it easy, why are the majority of players doing pvp definitely not taking it easy?
Are you sure you know what majority means? Because it seems to me that if the majority of players doing pvp just wanted to take it easy by solo queueing, then the majority of players doing pvp wouldn’t be doing premades. Casual solo queue pvp players are the minority.
ill tell you, i did AV exactly twice as a horde, in the first few days
the first time i won, and the second time it turned into a turtle that i lost, but i had more fun when i lost
im pretty sure that i wouldnt have had fun in that turtle if it turned into getting spawn camped in the cave for 20 minutes straight
a non-tryhard’s idea of having fun in pvp isn’t so much about winning, as long as their chance of winning is percieved as being above 30% in the first several minutes, even if they lose anyway
a 2/3 loss in wsg can be fun, but do you think getting spawn camped starting in the first few minutes for 10 minutes in the gy for a 0/3 loss in wsg would be fun?
regardless, it is understandably difficult to figure out how to force premades to only fight other premades
the people who are currently pvping have all been doing so since battlegrounds released, 100% of them
not a single one of them have unsubscribed or quit PvPing, not even the guy who ragequits and punches a hole in the wall every time his pug gets spawn camped at the wsg gy, which happens 90% of the time
The moment you start seperating tactics into “tryhard” and “normal” categories, you’ve pretty much already removed your chance of keeping a game close.
The people willing to put in more effort have the higher winrates in this game. It’s true for gear, it’s true for consumables, it’s true for premading, it’s true for twinks. It’s an RPG problem; stats need to matter, so more stats matter more. If you can get your stats to the point where the other guy doesn’t have a chance, either through gear/consumables/premading to make sure enough effective stats is where it needs to be in a bg, it’s generally enough to win.
We have this notion of a fair game, despite the fact everything about an RPG is centered around getting better statistical advantages than your opponent.
If you’re looking for some more casual games, why not try the wargames feature?
What do you mean? Premade AB/WSG is fun as hell, that’s like the entire game for me. You get rewarded with tons of honor for winning the games. ???
i actually dont know much about how wargames work yet
are there pug wargames, or would i need to either spam trade and world or look for a group in those channels to get into a wargame?
War games are for premades to play against other premades for no honor or rep.
Ok, so basically the AV Meta for pugs is to rep farm with turn-ins and bringing out the druids and someone keeps right clicking the druids and this stalls out the match so you can keep killing the enemy horde for the turn-in items they drop and you get rep. AV is not something you wanna do to farm honor, play AB/WSG instead for honor, join premades, or pug and learn how to play AB/WSG properly, learn the specific role your class plays in the BGs.
did you reply to the wrong poster?
i didn’t ask about how to get high honor per hour or what AV is like these days
Ah yea my bad, i just read your first sentence and thought you were complaining about AV, and also you’re horde disregard what i said. That’s for alliance side of AV.
This is a real silly take.
I did a lot of PvP at lower brackets while leveling in classic. For one, pvping while leveling is never much fun because it’s mostly just twink twink twink, and often still premades, not much different than 60s who have better gear than you do so far and are all working against you.
For two though, and mainly: the game is (and I will use this term very, veeeery, loosely) ‘balanced’ for level 60. Many classes continue getting new abilities right up to level 60, and talent trees were made for characters getting to level 60 in mind. 59 could be a good alternative, but from my experience it’s got the longest queue times cause anyone at 59 will just inevitably push 60.
Go play some some 19 BGs and get dumped on by a swarm of hunters, then hit 29 and see how good rogues are at that level before you hit 39 and finally start to see warriors using newly acquired abilities that crush everyone they get near at the level before stopping in at 49 and seeing the rule of the mage which continues all the way up to into 60 until people start getting raid gear and pvp sets with actual stam that can’t be gotten before 60.
PvPing in 60 is definitely fun. I would say find some guildies or people that will PvP with you.
But if you play solo that’s fine too, you’ll run into pug teams and those games are pretty fun. Youll run into ranking teams about 75%+ of the time and youll have almost no chance against them unless you are in a premade team also.
If you have some type of social life, responsibilities, family, friends, etc…, I would avoid hardcore ranking altogether. I did the grind 15 years ago up to Warlord and theres a reason I wont do it again. I knew a few people who quit the game and sold their account right after hitting GM/HWL. But yes most people who PvP at 60 do find it fun.
39 and 49 pvp brackets in wsg/ab are much fun. Specially during lvling. When you queue and meet the twinked out people that have literally everything possible to throw at you while you run around with your greens.
Much fun, veri much fun idd. Its like trying to beat that t3 sl lock with your d1 warrior.
Much skill, much enjoyment.
oh no people are playing the game in a way i dont approve of
best make a whiny forum post
Oh no people are having a discussion to try and understand how others view the game, better be passive aggressive and try to bully them out of productive conversation.
Spoken like a cheesy Disney villain.
Too many words to just say “WELL GLEYR DIDNT HAVE FUN IN SUB-60 PVP SO JEDDITE IS WRONG”.
Fortunately, vanilla/classic pvp endorses his mindset. So you and many others can always float in retail direction
