PvP Feels Neglected from the Top Down

And who pays you

Challengers-Rivals who think they need to buy a service rather than just watch a glad-r1 streamer of their spec.

If it’s free then maybe it’s not as valuable, right?

Another great idea I have heard is fill the lower ratings with bots.

Getting into WoW arena is HARSH. Every PvE andy who sets foot in arena complains about being constantly crowd controlled to the point where they can’t even get their rotation off
so how about throwing the comp stomp AI into every bracket at low rating?

  • Easier for new players to try arena
  • Shorter queue times on low rating
  • More stable participation, where bots can help fill the spots a low rating

Seems like a win all around!

Nah, although vs AI skirms might be useful for sort of getting a feel for things or ui config.

Yeah I get your point
being matched against AI is essentailly a free win - in RANKED.

But you and I will only be facing them for the first 10-20 min of the season, so it wouldn’t matter to me at all. And I dont mind giving 1k rating for free to new players, if that makes them willing to try the bracket! You allready never lose rating below 1k, so it wouldn’t matter much anyhow.

Is it a free handout? yes!
Is that an issue? I don’t see why. It’s not like getting to the top of the ladder will be any easier.
Will it bring new players into arena? Certainly!

Or just learn a basic pve rotation

Initial rating is already free. Most of the issues are just learning curve and then finding teammates because nobody wants to play with somebody that’s new/bad, including new/bad players.

Can’t compare a shooter with a game you have to sync with ur team.

Not really, oxygen is free and how valuable is that? Very.

I’ve actually seen this phenomenon in real life. I knew someone who used to teach wrestling classes for free and no one really came. They started charging 20$ and people started coming.

When I look to buy something I often ignore the cheaper options bc I assume they will be bad.

This is interesting. Placing bots at a low MMR (somewhere between 1000 and 1400, although I’m not sure how low player MMR can get) could have some benefits:

  • It ensures that new players have a way to practice without feeling overwhelmed or discouraged by never winning a single game (assuming the bots lose).
  • It could also serve as a way to inflate MMR from the bottom up, effectively creating an “MMR floor” that even new players are unlikely to fall below. The bots would maintain a baseline MMR that doesn’t change, though I’m not sure what this baseline value should be

No one values it until rough play indoors gets out of hand.

Those are excellent points Fotmhealer. I have not looked at those game’s forums, but I’d guess they are not filled with endless premades ruin pvp posts like wow pvp forums are.

I was joking that if there was merge and dynamic Q, then we’d prolly see the same thing we see in BGs forums for 3’s. idk if that would happen, but I would not be surprised.

For the record, I don’t have a problem with premades. Except in epic BGs, I don’t like playing with them in roflstomps, it’s terrible game play to experience, even if it is an eoofrtless win. I have no problem playing against them, cause I can take a loss, even a roflstomp, and keep rollin. But it is very boring doing the roflstomp. Some people like that, though, I guess. /shrug

Agree with some comments I see:
For rating system is good to reset the rating only but keep the hidden MMR over season, so we don’t need to worry much about inflation/deflation stuff. I think Hearthstone battleground is doing this, correct me if I am wrong.
For queue time: This is a very serious problem and it kills the most players base. One idea is to add AI healers in the Solo shuffle lobbies, ofc make sure it is either both AI healer or both real person healer.

Whole system seems to hinge on the idea that to climb up you need to push someone else down in rating. When the majority of players in the middle of the bell curve of participation (lets say 1500 to 2000) all quit playing, then there is almost no one to stand on to get those 2400+ ratings this season.

Should give points for wins based on difference btwn mmr and cr and not lose points when you lose. Give a range btwn 10 and 50 pts per win based on difference to your higher mmr and let people climb up as fast or slow as they can. When their mmr equals their cr it will be harder to climb, so theyll need to start winning a few in a row to again raise mmr.

No reason to lose points in pvp. When you lose a mythic boss fight or a high key mythic plus you dont lose the way you would if it was an arena or blitz match loss. In pve you rez and try to win again. Why does pvp need to be a different system built on climbing over other people?

Have rewards for prestige based on # total games played to duelist or glad, and give recolor mounts for shuffle and blitz, not just 3s
maybe even a mount or something unique for 2s.

Pvp is like caveman era stuff, while pve has been reborn and revamped each expansion. Time to overall pvp in wow.

Oh you mean like idk 3v3 or 2v2 or rbg. Like the game has always been before they created 10 different version of WoW with 6 different pvp modes.

He is saying gems should cost 25k. Which would make people go broke. Most players don’t even have 500-1mil gold :rofl:

Getting rid of MMR was always the answer. It always will be. But what then?

What? That’s literally never the answer.
