You know what's worse?
Calling the genocide of the Night Elves "morally grey" now.
I agree. This whole thing is ridiculous.
It was absolute BS that we had to participate in that, or that anyone aside from the Forsaken WOULD participate in it. Especially after Legion.
What I'm complaining about is Blizzard setting up direct bad guys from the Alliance side and then rewriting them as "good after all!" years later.
If youâre saying that about Illidan, you really should have been complaining about it along with the rest of it back in BC. When he went from âactually morally grey character with depthâ to âmoustache twirling villainâ.
Legion was just a return to how he was originally written, leaning very heavily on the original War of the Ancients trilogy that released before even WoW did.
At least it'd be justified if they said that since N'zoth is getting stronger he's influencing more and more people. But the issue there is again, them not giving us any player choice in the matter.
Could be worse. There could be a ton of people that absolutely hate the game, that have nothing better to do than sit in the forums all day and spread hate, even though they could be doing something far more constructive with their time.
Imagine that.
That kind of addiction is the real deal.

Alliance: Whines about being the boring good-guy faction
Blizz: Gives them something "morally grey" (not nearly as bad as the horde)
Alliance: Omg, why are you making us evil?
This is why your population numbers are falling. You won't even allow blizzard to "taint" your moral superiority.
If they were doing this to any actual members of the Horde, It'd at least make sense. The Horde has no holdings in Vol'dun, so it's just an Alliance squad attempting genocide against a race the faction has never interacted with, and may not even know exists, with no explanation.

Not saying that the BfA story has been great so far, but can we get some context with the spoiler tag perhaps? I wana know why Iâm freaking out before I freak out.
As far as I know there is no context. Thereâs a questline for the Alliance that involves purging the Vulpera because theyâve helped the Horde but last I checked the content surrounding the start of the purge is sparse at best.
The Alliance has always had problems with overzealtry so Iâm going to wait until the story goes live before I call it bad.
Yall literally killed any Zandalari for trying to be allies with us... and those zandalari had nothing to do with us in your campaigns. So yea I can see you doing that for the Voldunai who actually did help us.
Yall literally killed any Zandalari for trying to be allies with us...
Horde does exactly the same thing to the Kul Tirans.
I want to purge horde. I like this direction.

killing them sure, but devoting military resources to purging them, when we've barely interacted with them at all? there just seems to be no motive

I never could understand the logic you are using. You do know they can do this while doing something else. Heck they can do it while playing another game to get the most out of the sub.

But you're not. Because they aren't. And there's no Horde there. There are technically not even Zandalari out there other than a handful of outcasts and criminals in exile. In fact, the only Horde presence at all is the Embassy at the Great Seal and that boat that Nathanos and Gallywix are chilling on out on the docks.
It's more stupid storytelling where everything has to be resolved with murder and violence and peeps can't just be friends with each other without someone else trying to kill one group and sending them to the other for safety.
Purge squads? We taking ideas from movies and implementing them into the game? Can we get a Suicide Squad to fight off the Purge Squads :P.
I say this about this "Purge squads"
If we have to suffer the burning of the tree, let it happen since well like train, I guess I sit here and ride to the crashing end.
I Just wonder how far they gonna make it.

If we have to suffer the burning of the tree
As bad as that was, it was at least a military strike against an actual Alliance member nation/legitimate target.
Vulpera are Aborigines, in Azeroth Australia where the Zandalari sends their criminals, who are currently friendly with the PC and some Zandalari nationalists who rescued them from evil snake people.
Instead of attacking Horde bases on Kalimdor or Broken Isles or Northrend, the Alliance is going to mass slaughter a tiny population of cute cuddly and plucky fox people who offer nothing of value to the Horde,
just cuz.
You can just hear the soy, tofu and man buns behind the writing.
Sweet, I get to go and purge stuff?
This is going to be so awesome!
