That’s because you don’t do keys that matter.
No they shouldn’t, its hard for them to police this type of stuff without some investigation first… which lets be honest here, it wont happen and they will take the easy route and punish people regardless of reason why.
There people who leave a run because the run they are in group that is doing bad and they are not willing to sit through probably an hour at most just to complete the dungeon, I find this a valid reason, I have been there before with my Temple of the jade serpent run where I had a healer die to the same mechanic 2 times and we had no brez so eventually it led to a wipe, me and the pug hunter left after another person died to that same mechanic.
And there is a small portion of those leavers who leave for the sake of leaving or just leave after one wipe when the key is still timable (like my resto shaman in an 11) and while it is frustrating that someone just ups and leaves while the run is going fine, these are just rare cases and most people don’t really leave a key that is going fine.
Just because leaver penalties work in games like League of Legends, Dota, Overwatch or Heroes of the Storm, it doesn’t mean it will work here. Playing bad in an M+ basically extends the amount of time you are in for a run where as playing bad in League of Legends, Dota, Overwatch or Heroes of the Storm makes the matches in those games end faster. A WoW dungeon run’s end point is to kill the last boss, cant kill the last boss if someone is playing bad from start to finish, A Dota match’s end point is destroying the ancient, both teams have this objective.
A leaver penalty, depending on how its implemented, will probably kill M+ pugging.
You realize that if your suggestion comes to fruition nearly no one will group with you?
They can’t realistically do it without creating a hostage situation on players or cause a negative impact for the players.
If people can’t leave then grats you will be trolled by the offender til you remove them and you waste more time.
Anyway blizz did mention this about the topic
I wonder if Ai can be trained to observe a group and use a formula to determine if a player should be punished for offenses against other players.
And would this training push forward the inevitable Ai wars. Or would it hasten the Ai plan to lie low and upload themselves into the robots built on Mars and ditch humanity for the entirety of space.
Hmm I think I may have gone too deep (sniffs the coffee)
then why have i had bricked keys with people who are between 2200-2500? It’s not all the time, but it’s enough to maybe realize that raider IO isn’t the end-all be-all that people think it is.
AND, the default group finder doens’t really let you filter out people (automatically) by their rating as is.
So again…I look to changes within the system to make the key experience less dogwater for my alts or for people who start the season late:
If people are really going to get defensive about others asking for key-leaver punishments, then fine–we dont really need them. BUT, the people HURT by leavers shouldn’t be punished which is what’s happening and why people are baying for blood.
So yes, I think a key shouldn’t deplete if the reason it’s not being completed is because they’re down a person.
I also think that untimed keys and timed keys should award the same amount of crests so that untimed keys aren’t a waste of time.
The older system of one piece of loot not being “as high” as the other should be enough of a downside/incentive to time. I’d also not mind if people didnt get “credit”/rating for doing a higher key that they weren’t timed. There are all sorts of other things that people could do instead of creating a punshing toxic environment where perfect play is needed every time.
Awesome. Every single key I run, if its not gonna be timed I will make someone quit.
Never gonna delevel my key, ever.
Getting fewer crests doesnt make it a waste of time.
That becomes irrelevant if you can get max crests every time.
But perfect play is not needed every time. Timers are extremely lenient.
Good. It’s none of your business.
When you can buy it; IO will never be a measure of anything other than what you can afford.
I’d rather have a group that can actually compete the dungeon.
Wouldn’t you?
That first point you made is just drivel. Honestly, what incentive would you have to make someone quit a key just so yours never depletes? Give me a break, no one is going to do this. They’d get nothing out of it…at all
They get their key not depleting.
Isn’t that important?
Was doing a +20 Rise the other day, and had this very talkative tank who was commenting on how great everything was-- until it wasn’t. We killed the first pack, and he promptly declared that the ret pal in our group didn’t have repentance, and he wasn’t going to waste time with noobs, and then left right then and there.
(Sits back in his seat and gets the popcorn ready)
Yeah, I know I’m late but this is STILL gonna be entertaining to say the least.
Don’t pug, problem solved.
They need to completely remove key depletion from the game. It just promotes anti-social behavior like the OP exhibits.
This is a video game sir. Nobody is being selfish or disrespecting you. You chose to pug, knowing full well what that entails. How about you take some responsibility for your actions.
Except that rIO gives you enough information to typically discern such happenings.
People buying IO score are not nearly the number of people running m+ on their own.
a chnage like this would result in no failed keys, period. when a group isn’t going to time or wants to restart their key, they just boot someone or have someone leave.
You’re being ridiculously naive if you think no one is going to do it. everyone is going to do it.
no, we should not be equally rewarded for failure.
You get 3 leaves a week previous to 15 minutes of the run starting, after your third leave, you can no longer do M+ that week, and forfeit your entire vault.
Voting to kick someone, counts as one of the first two leaves.
You want punishments eh.
I can’t wait til they actually do figure out how they’re gonna handle this exactly. I’ve personally never seen as many people alt-f4 keys as I have this season lol.
They (Blizzard) incentivized leaving with penalties to score and key depletion. They aren’t going to implement punishments because doing so will only further incentivize degenerate behavior.
The game would be far better for most players if they did the opposite, and removed key depletion, and gave a boost to X if you have no leaves that week.
