You know that rpg element you think you are getting . You’re not.

Your covenant will send you to help the other covenants because in all honest they are actually friends.

Which is odd, since you want to have access to all the abilities with zero effort.

You know what also isn’t fun? Zero repercussions. How effortless is it to swap spec/talents/gear/abilities and yet that’s not enough accessibility for supposedly ‘talented’ people.

It boggles the mind how some people cannot work with what they’re given.

Warlords of Draenor.

The problems with convenant is a rpg aspect for single players Games, because in single player Games you have no real downside if tout select one because it only affect you.

Now port it in a mmorpg that we play with millions of people and think that Will have no effect at all on everyone on how the group will perform.

Except that WoW is the only MMO that has Raidbots and Sims where as the other MMO’s just want people to down the boss.

This over-focus on analytics is killing the casual base of this game.

Do you see what you type sometimes. When did WoD ever have a system like covenants.

And how is giving me 4 choices, but it’s only good for one spec. When I play prot and ret a good amount of choices. Have you read what soul binds are too?

Have you ever played an RPG? You know what happens when you don’t perform to a standard like in any game and get kicked?

Have you played WoW at any competitive level, no? I didnt think so. You have no idea what covenants will do and your disingenuous to the situation when there is proof that there really is no RPG element to the covenants other than player power being lost or gained depending on the spec, and that’s the worst part, depending on your spec. You play a rogue that only DPS’s. Your covenant pick will be much easier for you then the hybrid classes carrying your butt in LFR.

You think I didnt earn the covenant power, you need to rethink what you say to people with way more achievement points, AOTCs, Cutting Edge, and much more. You’re in the wrong.

Not everyone wants to play at a casual level or be carried like you.

It didn’t have to. The whole ‘no flying’ debacle revealed how player convenience can utterly demolish a game for no better reason that entitlement.

You are given 4 choices that have strengths and weaknesses. Usually, ‘talented’ people turn the weaknesses into strengths, but since this is ‘WoW Talent’, I guess you need all four abilities just in case.

Other RPG’s are more focused on the community aspect of the game than the numbers at the end of each fight. There isn’t another MMORPG that’s this analytical about its end game content.

The fact you think WoW is competitive makes my eyes bleed. If you want competitiveness with all the ease of accessibility, League of Legends is a far better competitive game that WoW.

How are they carrying me if my covenant pick is ‘easier’? I would be carrying them.

You earn Covenant power through everything. Mythic Raiders are so full of themselves its practically eye rolling. Congrats, you can compete in the most milk-toast MMORPG in genre.

The ultimate irony is Ion Hazzikosta’s got his job from proving C’thun was mathetmatically impossible on release on his deep theorycrafting forum Elitistjerks. com.

It’s literally the original home of deep TC.

Look for yourself.

That doesn’t answer my question. When did WoD have a similar power system like covenants. You don’t have one, cool.

Yeah, I can play with that covenants, but when I play a I think about how much easier it is for my group to down the content were doing. Every covenant has a strength or weakness to each spec. Why is it so bad that I want to take the best covenant for tanking, or the best covenant for DPS to help my group get through a dungeon easier?

Then go play F14 where they don’t allow damage meters in raids because “muh feelings.” WoW has always been analytical that’s the point of an RPG with big numbers, to calculate it and be the best you can be at it. You’re delusional to think otherwise.

WoW is competitive it always has been, infact all video games are competitive, you play a video game to have fun and win. You know what raiding and doing dungeons, arena, and battle grounds are? Competitive play.

Because they’re filling a role that your class cant even do. Good luck healing a group or tanking the monsters in the dungeon. You belong in a solo player game with that kind of thinking. You’ve never played an MMO.

I’m not a mythic raider, I can just see through your bull. I enjoy this game, and people like you are why it’s going in a horrible direction.

It didn’t need one to reveal how player convenience can destroy a game.

You’re making the game artificially easier, which again is weird coming from a ‘competitive’ player.

No it hasn’t. Classic has proven that ten-fold. Even Ion’s old mathematical ‘C’Thun is impossible to beat’ would’ve been beaten with all the analytical garbage WoW has now.

In your head, maybe. But having content around for several months seems like the opposite of competitive and more about the community, but then again there’s numbers to chase.

What? Other games have Warriors and Hunters and pure DPS. Just because there are pure DPS classes doesn’t make their contribution any less significant.

But, you are? How can you down Mythic Bosses and not call yourself a Mythic Raider?

So? Who said everyone always needed to be mortal enemies?

If you think that is bad, you should see Paladins in 3rd edition.

Really though, I can see why people would have an issue with this. But I do like how Covenants work overall. I don’t think having a more static choice is a bad thing. I already am mostly stuck as my race, and certainly stuck as my class. This is a thing that will be easier to switch up then those.
I mean there are people that switch classes when there current spec falls out of favor. Classes are already not perfectly balanced for all content. I can understand why they would do this, but I think it would be pretty ludicrous if they were demanding the option to switch a characters class at will to choose the most optimal option (though admittedly, FF does that I think =P).

I think a fun and interesting compromise would be some kind of questline allowing you to go “steal” a covenant ability from one of the rival Covenants. Give it a modest cost of some sort, a few decently long quests, and stick on some thematic visiuals to the ability to bring it more in line with your current Covenant. Bound it to one of the soulbinds. Hell maybe have it stealing an entire soulbind as well.

You are my kind of poster. Have a seat and a beer. :beers:

Just trying to help everybody out.

It’s not even at pre-patch lol calm down. Just because some streamer says you shouldn’t like it isn’t a reason to get so bent out of shape before you even play it. I know, I know, the streamer will tell you it’s bad then and you’ll be convinced then as now that it’s true but you know what I mean.

We don’t follow streamers.

Streamers now follow us.

Welcome to 2020 baby! :sunglasses:

Pull that ripcord.

Ohhh, the ultimate cop out. Someone must have said it in a video so it has no merit!

Or we can avoid the tons of posts all over this forum from people that have actually been testing this for many hours, but I guess their input means nothing as well? Interesting. It seems you have made your mind up 100% no matter how the information is presented.

What’s with the WoW forums and their mad hatred for streamers lol. They’re the ones playing the game on beta at mythic level. Of course we’re going to value what they say. Especially when they basically play this game as their job. This place is bonkers sometimes I swear lol.

Who’s word should I value then? hmm? The people who say “AWH bro it’s gonna be fine, blizzard has never messed up an expansion before.” real enticing.

Where there is smoke, there is fire and these streamers are the lookouts from the towers across the way warning us about what it coming. But not only that, it annoys me when people disregard all the work beta testers have put in and posted about in detail, as if what they have been doing doesn’t matter.

I guess I am starting to see why betas feel useless. No matter what people say needs to be fixed you have people that will come here and validate every decision blizzard makes, no matter how bad it is for the game.
