Yep, my guild died. I’m gonna miss playing with them as much as I did, gonna try keeping in contact and playing other games. So, I was sad when it was announced, but I was also just relieved. Felt like a weight was lifted off my shoulders. Which is just a sad thing to think.
The big thing i’ve noticed is, especially as a recruiter is in the past when guilds die-A lot of the members will search for new guilds.
Lately guilds die and like 1-2 of the entire roster will look for a new guild, everyone else just quits because so many people were playing just for the guild experience. It sucks.
#pulltheripcord. It’s finally time to listen to your playerbase, and unlock covenants which will give us a ton of content through transmog, story, and mounts, pets and give players freedom to try out the different covenant abilities.
Or are we going to wait until 9.3? And thank you for it when the game is more dead than it already is.
Pull it pls.
I honestly don’t think SL will have a 9.3 . I think 9.2 will be the last big content patch with the Jailer raid and maybe a 9.2.5 tuning patch where they finally pull the ripcord after we have all splatted on the ground like
Covenants are super frustrating as a player trying to get back into the game.
I played a few months ago when I had time. Leveled my Druid. Chose NF because that’s what every guide said for the specs I play plus I loved the synergy between Nelf Druid and NF. I come back after the patch and suddenly I’m supposed to be Venthyr… but I don’t want to switch after time invested.
Similar thing with leveling my paladin… I want Kyrian for the looks and feel. But if I want to do healing I’m supposed to do Venthyr.
There are no “meaningful choices”. It’s either: choose what min max is best and maybe be lucky it’s the aesthetic you enjoy or just pick what you want and if you’re lucky it’s also useful for your class.
And let’s not even talk about how clunky the conduit system is… especially if you want to gasp play two different specs/roles.
So. I give up. My idea of having choices to choose and do content on is hampered and thus my joy in playing.
If i was Blizzard, pulling the ripcord would make most sense in 9.1.5, especially if this tier is going to be another 8 month grind.
It’s unlikely though.
I wouldn’t hold my breath, their whole game design philosophy reeks of parasitic design because they don’t allow themselves enough time to develop real game mechanics that will enhance their game beyond the next expansion (Covenants will be dumped like a steaming pile next expansion). The last true game development they had that enhanced the game was probably Mythic+.
Oh I agree but we are talking about Blizz and anything that makes sense would be against company policy and knowing how they operate they would wait until all SL content is irrelevant before doing so .
This actually bums me out and was one thing I thought about a lot while I’ve spending time on FFXIV over the last few weeks. Imagine how great a game WoW would be if every expansion they iterated on ideas instead of drop them the moment they could.
Garrisons? Order Halls? These two alone could have led to Guild or player housing, but instead they have to dump all their resources to the newest and hottest player power system we get lended for 2 years before it goes again.
THE RIPCORD HAS FINALLY BEEN PULLED, COMING IN 9.1.5! PRAISE BE!
"Once you’ve reached a high Renown threshold, you will thereafter be able to freely switch among any of the four Covenants without cooldown or restriction, as well as use cosmetic rewards that you have earned from one covenant even if you are currently a member of a different one. Both the Covenant switching and the use of cosmetic rewards will also apply to alts once the Renown threshold is reached on one character."
– from today’s Shadowlands Developer Update
The largest surprise of all time. Who knew an awful system would have to be changed?!
only take millions of people leaving to FF, a lawsuit, and one full year of complaints to get it!
now we just need 5 million more to leave so we can fix the token issue.
It finally happened! It’s been a heck of a wait. lol
Yep! It’s being pulled, now that everyone has left! Classic case of too little, too late.
Gonna buy Timbaeslice and all fellow ripcordists a round of shots.
Finally! Good call on the cosmetics, as well.
Thanks Mike Ybarra.
They pulled the ripcord 6 feet from the ground.
If you didn’t blink, you saw it… or after putting the pic through enhancement. It counts! The package died gently. >.>
