Blizzard wants a screwdriver. And the screwdriver comes in does its job.
Blizzard wants a knife. And the knife comes in does its job.
Blizzard wants a magnifying glass. And the magnifying glass comes in and does its job.
So those tools have their own roles.
The thing is you want everybody to become a Swiss Army Knife.
Blizzard wants a screwdriver. The Swiss Army Knifes comes in. Blizzard wants a knife. The same Swiss Army Knife comes in. Blizzard wants magnifying glass. And the same Swiss Army Knife comes in. So you want a World of Swiss Army Knifes. But that’s not the World that Blizzard designs.
We want a Tank. Everyone raised their hand. We want a Healer. Everyone raised their hand. We want DPS. Everyone raised their hand. It must be a good game, huh.
I’m not sure what you plan to achieve by bringing up the same point which has been explained why what Blizzard wants is directly the opposite of what the reality of World of Warcraft is.
Still waiting for a lore explanation on how helping one Covenant somehow betrays the others when we’re helping multiple covenants multiple times a week with assaults.
Just let us play multiple forms of content already. Not all PVE covenants are good in PVP and vice versa.
This is a horrendous analogy. Let’s use it, though. A more apt analogy would be that DPS are all screwdrivers, because a mage can’t wish themselves into becoming a healer. So, Blizzard hands us a flathead and gives us 3 screws. One is a flathead, perfect! It works! The next one is a Phillips head, now what? We can strip the screw to hell and maybe get it half tightened, but that sucks? The third one is a Robertson screw, and we can’t do anything but finger tighten it, which accomplishes almost nothing. Why wouldn’t I just get the proper tool for the job? Who is the idiot out there that thinks shoving triangle blocks into circle holes is the call?
Though at this point I’m beginning to wonder if they really did have a back up plan, or if Ion was just blowing air out of his butt in order to make himself look better and more prepared or whatever.
It isnt the most elegant solution, but all they really need to do is remove the 2 week time gate from swapping into a “betrayed” covenant, and the ripcord is effectively pulled.
Id much rather be hard locked to a covenant, but have all the power be external to the covenant, but it is what it is.
Your analogy is wrong. All screwdrivers can handle the job. But there are top performing screwdrivers and bottom performing screwdrivers. But all screwdrivers can drive that screw. It’s just people like you keep on believing it wont work.
Only the top 3% to 5% is affected… the top people who do Mythic Raiding. The rest, it doesnt matter. And those 3% or 5% are usually hardcore no life and their issue could be resolved by making multiple mains to occupy the covenant they want.
Then the other 95%, it doesnt matter as M+15 and AoTC is doable by any class/specs.
I’ve recently started playing an kyrian arcane mage because its fun, but lately I’ve been considering going venthyr, not because it looks more fun, it doesn’t, but because I can actually play frost AND arcane, and even fire with less issue. Objectively its the better “tool” for the "job’ of damage. But we don’t need another actual issue thrown into this thread, there are literally 1000s of them in this thread so I’ll just address the post.
It doesn’t matter if they won’t because they should really pull the ripcord in some form. There are much better hills to die on then covenants being kept separate. Its fine for a developer to hold to their guns, but its also important for a developer to be able to quickly realize when a system is not working, and covenants as a system don’t work in their current state. They have various fun aspects to them, but they have a glaring design flaw that utterly ruins them, and that this isn’t being fixed is disappointing, worse its flawed by design.
We get all kinds of lore stating that the covenants have no problems with each other, they’ll fight and die with each other, they’ll show up in other campaigns, but heaven forbid you want to try a new covenant ability. We can “betray” people who are bound to your very soul and they won’t complain, but polemarch better have two weeks of pork rinds and worm guts before you see them again without even a reproach or complaint from any of them.
