How does it not make sense? When I start doing mythics I’m going to be changing talents, and maybe even have another set of gear just because it would make me do better in said hard content. Having yet another layer to add to it. Just becomes even more tedious.
That is what any changes made to the game. I don’t like Group Finder, and I don’t like other systems wow has added, as I feel it has hurt the social element of the game, but I deal with it. Reason I don’t do anything with pugs, as “meta” and systems in place has made pugging replace guilds for many players. So I feel it has hurt the game. Does not mean I want it gone.
Wow adds systems all the time that players do not like, MMOs are like that, and the only thing we can say is. Well I might not like this system, but it is not going to always be like this.
Than that guild would have to be respectful that he won’t pull better numbers? I mean that is part of a mmo. Social elements can hinder your progression. That is normal, and I don’t see anything wrong with it.
Than, make a alt for pvp? Leveling up is much easier, and if you don’t want to do that. Well you can still pvp, just you got to work with the tools you have.
You can still play muti specs, the cov abilities is not preventing you from playing the core of the class you want to play.
…You’re going to have to elaborate on this because I can’t think of any old school RPG that had a system as confusing, overly complicated, and restrictive as covenants. Not even DnD with all it’s dice rolls and spreadsheet character charts.
? factions you join in rpgs all the time that tie into story. I mean just look at cyberpunk coming out. Your background reflects on things you can do in it. It opens gates.
I mean at one point wow use to have shamans one side paladins on other, or undead priest use to get a dot that other priest did not.
having power tied to what faction you want to join is a rpg element that Blizzard pick to go with.
If that’s what the dev is shooting for, then sure. But remember this, WoW has competitive content such as arenas and RBGs and M+. For those of us who enjoy those content, RPG comes second. Besides, if I were looking for a RPG game there are much better ones than WoW, let’s be honest here.
Let’s also get this straightened out. I really do not care one bit what others do. I don’t care what you do. You pick whatever you want. But I want to pick whatever I want, when I want.
It’s not a problem for you, maybe. It is a problem for me.
What does content have to do with system? I simply want to be prepared for what I am doing. Whether you can or cannot do any content is irrelevant. I do not wish to drag my teammates down, nor do I wish to drag myself down. Simple as that.
You say tedious, a vast majority of players say they’re optimizing themselves and enjoy playing with the numbers to help them perform better. So adding a wall that greatly restricts your ability to do that while trying to partake in “harder content” makes absolutely no sense.
No I don’t accept that lying down. I’ve been taught to question everything. And speak up if I see something I don’t agree with. Your idea that just because Blizzard said no, we should lie down like a dog will never be something I subscribe to. It’s seriously a bad take.
You’re showing exactly what I’m talking about. The guild has to be respectful? No they’re going to be upset that Blizzard has this system that another player who’s ready to jump into the roll to fill in for their guild member is going to be less efficient than the one who made the right choice for the content and spec that they’re playing.
You’re really showing me that you don’t have any idea what it’s like to player in more difficult areas of the game.
Never in WoW from the moment that I started in Wrath have I had to make 2nd character because it’s not built for the content in question and has no chance in being competitive because of said choice. That’s a bad argument and for me to even entertain that idea of doing that is a waste of my time.
You’re right. It’s preventing you from playing at your optimal level across different areas of the game. Let alone again if one Covenant choice works for one spec but is bad for the other.
I’m so glad you decided to break down my response because it tells me that your knowledge in the game and the community itself is so limiting that you might as well be playing a single player RPG. Your stance is so disconnected that it makes Blizzards servers look stable.
It is not irrelevant because you are not being limited in content by the choice you made.
Game rules happen all the time. In a tabletop game, you can’t just go. Well my class can’t do that, but I want to do it anyway and roll anyway.
Limits, and choices how you build your char reflects on how you do things. Saying I want to play how I want, and think the rules we play by is not fair. That is a whole other subject matter.
Of course I am. If I pick a covenant that’s good for raid but 0 value for arenas, then I am not going to do arenas. And that’s a problem for me. It may not be a problem for you, but it’s a problem for me.
You are not wrong about rules, but this is not what we are talking about here. If the system goes live, then that becomes a rule set by Blizzard, then we will have to come to terms with it one way or another. Right now we are voicing concerns. Whether blizzard listens is up to them.
If Blizzard truly wishes to divide content, then sure, like I said, I will simply not do certain content. Again, I really don’t care what others do. I don’t wish to tell anyone their opinions or choices are wrong. I am simply saying “this is a problem for me,” as opposed of you telling me that it’s not a problem for me, where it is.
And that is fine? But Blizzard made new rules for the expansion we follow, and I like these new limits.
You should lie down, or at least give players time to mess with the system live. Blizzard gave you your answer, and it could get changed later. But to keep asking and going on, is the same as a child not getting his way and keep repeating same thing over and over.
If by some reason Blizzard pulls said ripcord and changes the system, the people who wanted said system will not even get to play it. So that is fair to them how?
Than that is a community problem. If wow players can’t adjust to new rules, and be understanding of the systems in place. Maybe wow mmo players are not as good as they think they are? That they can’t adjust, and needs the same ol systems in every expansion? That speaks volumes of the wow player base more than anything else.
Things change? That is the very nature of MMO. Using the past, is not a good example. This is a new expansion, and they made leveling much faster and easier. So you got your answer.
You just don’t like my answers, and you hate that someone counters all your points. Stop crying.
And I understand that. The problem is Blizzard stated they don’t agree. They might change mind in the future, but since they don’t agree right now? What more is left to be said about it. Blizzard got the message crystal clear. A few months after it is release, we still don’t like it. We should pick up and talk about it.
Right now? What is left to be said?
and alright it is a problem for you, but not for others. What can be done about it? Nothing for right now. So all you can do is accept, and wait until future patches, that Blizzard might listen at that time.
Yep, I think we can end the discussion here. I think Blizzard is fully aware the problems that it’ll create for some players (or I should hope so). Plenty of people have voiced their concerns, and plenty have said otherwise. It is up to Blizzard to decide.
Factions in RPGs are what covenants should be, but aren’t.
It seems like they are trying to make covenants like a second class that your character has, instead of a faction you join. Splitting the raid appearances by covenants kind of illustrate that. They are putting the covenant over the class choice.
When I join Thieves’ Guild in Elder Scrolls all the loot I get in caves doesn’t magically look like thief gear because my faction. I also don’t get new abilities based on my star sign choice + class choice (which can make or break my combination). Or am barred from fully completing certain areas because it’s not tied to that faction.
I give you that Classic WoW was closer in some ways to old school RPGs. It was also really unbalanced. And even then it was more balanced than what covenants are shaping up to be.
EDIT: So it seems that the covenant set and raid sets may be different. I really, really hope this is true. It would suck so much if it’s not.
