Really? Things like Lust/ MS used to be unique. Now nearly everyone has them. Have we forgotten “bring the player, not the class?”
But… covenants are changeable…

Hmmm.
Yeah, you’re really here just to poke fun at people.
But it’s not like you’re being forced to change your choice. You can lock yourself into a covenant while still having covs be swappable.
Also, I feel like it’s a bit intellectually dishonest to argue from an “RPG Aspect” point. (Not you, but people who “care about rpg aspects”)
That was a Blizzard thing due to Horde having a massive advantage with it lol. Also, that statement has nothing to do with what I said.
What? They are absolutely comparable. You get far more with the talent tree than you get with the covenant system.
Again, you ask a question and I answer it. Doesn’t mean I’m defending a system. It’s coming out regardless, no matter how much you snort and roar.
You absolutely will be able to play how you want. Nobody can force you to change. If you feel like committing to one is more important, that would be fine.
Ok so we’re both on the same page there, now how do you argue against people saying they will be forced into changing to the meta covenants( something we have seen time and time again in the past 2 expansions being forced into meta for pugs etc…) if they want to participate in pug groups. The only choice they are left with is the same problem now of “just make a group bro” and then no one joins because they are not forcing the perceived meta. Like Ion said they are trying to combat this type of degenerate game play so how do we work around this problem?
Yea, what are you possibly thinking that player power should have limitations in an MMO RPG like all the other MMO RPG’s.
That was a Blizzard thing due to Horde having a massive advantage with it lol.
Mortal Strike was horde only? Who knew…
Are you going to explain why it would be a good idea for players to pick talents at the beginning of an expansion and not be able to change them?
You can lock yourself into a covenant while still having covs be swappable.
Read that very carefully.
I just skipped over the MS part because it was a dumb comment. It didn’t have any bearing to what was said.
The more I read some of these replies the more I’m 100% certain a lot of these people are just Final Fantasy MMO players who don’t like the art style etc… of that game and just want to make WoW like it because they like the style here better or something.
One, they’re not talents. Two, they’re Covenant exclusive. Three, Soulbinds and Conduits.
You’re right. Comparing pulling the Ripcord with WoW “being turned into Overwatch” (that comparison is always a bit of a thinker) isn’t defending the system whatsoever.
Disagree. If they are freely swappable, you will in fact not be able to play what you want. You will be expected to swap to the meta covenant at all times. That maybe how you want to play, but not everyone does.
If Necro are the best for the content you want to do and you’re not Necro, here’s how it’s gunna play out.
WITH the Ripcord being pulled and Covenants being unlocked, you won’t get invited unless you’re Necro. You can then go change to Necro relatively easily.
WITHOUT the Ripcord being pulled and Covenants remaining locked, you won’t get invited unless you’re Necro. You then gotta slog for weeks to get Necro to the level of everyone else afterwards.
Yeah you’re right there, but the problem isn’t the covenants, it’s the players. You’re never going to be able to change players. And look at the way it is right now. You either have covenants be swappable, and be forced to change covenants to get into pugs, or you have them be locked, and not be able to get into pugs at all because of your covenant.
In my opinion, the former option is more appealing. At least I can get into the group in that one
“I want to lock into a fixed APR that varies overtime.”
What the hell is this thread anymore

I mean, it has merit. Overwatch you get to swap Heroes mid battle, WoW you get to swap entire play styles with a tome or simply sitting in a rest area.
There’s so much accessibility in WoW, it’s hard not to draw similarities from a MOBA.
