PSA: Versatility

Versatility scales faster offensively than it does defensively–even more so with 2p pvp trinket bonus.

Everyone wearing more versatility won’t make you take less damage. It will make you take more.

Stop saying Versatility will prevent oneshots.

Yeah they fail to acknowledge that the “Two Trinket” bonus does not increase the bonus to damage reduction… You gain 40% more damage from versatility though…

Was about to make the same post.

Versatility WILL make a difference vs people in PvE gear that don’t have it.

Versatility WILL NOT cause the meta to be less bursty.

I’m not sure the math behind it, and the 40% damage increase doesn’t help, but the two do not scale linearly. If your vers was 200% (240% with pvp bonus) you’d take 0 damage due to 100% damage reduction. I don’t know the curve, maybe somebody else does?

Vers will DR. HP doesn’t.

I think that’s what people are getting at when they say gear will smooth things out.

Here is the relationship:

(1 + .14x) * (1 - 0.05x) from 0 to 10

Put that into WolframAlpha, because Blizzard won’t let me link.

At 100% versatility (or 140% bonus damage and 50% damage reduction) you’re still dealing more damage than reducing. But for what it’s worth there’s a peak around 70% versatility, which we won’t reach.

Versatility is always going to make damage output go up at current scaling.

Yeah it’s not really versa I think it’s moreso just going to be the HP that we’ll gain from renown will slowly start to outscale the damage increases we have, on top of people playing a lot of comps that have better defensive synergy with another in 3s, on top of because our gears ilvl will be higher that bonus will synergize more with renown

I know there’s things that are really fast with frontloaded damage but I’ve said before I actually did see quite a lot of games start to go into damp when it was evenly skilled 3s teams. Before someone says it’s because I’m a hunter keep in mind other people that played a lot of beta said the same thing:

But yes, I know also the argument will come too for this that it’s not fair because experienced players etc. etc., but I’m willing to actually help people with the information required to understand why this actually is happening when there are experienced players in game.

People don’t understand old stamina/resil math where non dot classes/non aoe windows are getting damage reduction vs 3 targets at same time rather than increasing damage to a single target. :clown_face:

Stamina is most important thing though and very few classes have bad defensive conduits which get insane at 226 ilvl since beta played on 140 ilvl conduits.

You honestly think an extra 2% stamina from renown is going to fix the balancing/pacing? How on earth did you ever develop any sort of credibility on this forum?

We had like 34k hp on beta, we have 10k less than that right now :slight_smile:

35k at 197 ilvl scaling up to 211 (i think) with a placeholder test buff in arena.

People will have 226-230. The only pacing argument unranked :clown_face: s can make is that primary stats are actually good this expansion, but stamina still outscales that.

PvP trinket set bonus is an amp not a flat value and secondaries DR, but defensive versa and stamina helps you vs 2-3 people hitting you at same time rather than your single target burst unless you are doing aoe or are a dot class.

however new players who are trying to do pvp is dying in arenas without doing any damage, game is hard atm to play.

you also have alot less damage now then later I do not see your argument, saying scaling with gear will help survivability DAMAGE SCALES TOO!!! also you only get 6% stamina bonus in 40 renown lvls we already have the 2% so on extra 4% isnt going to save you from the one shots

i mean the math that controls what full gear pvp looks like has not changed yet except in the described ways re: defensive conduits. he’s recounting beta pvp anecdotally, so your problem can’t possibly be visualization. call him a liar or log off, i think?

it’s better to do something about class tuning, or it would be hard to find pvp players in the future.
