PSA: flagging is NOT a downvote button

i need to work harder at not letting myself get sucked into the troll threads.

i try to behave, but sometimes that little dude sitting on my shoulder gets the best of me.

No thanks.

It was being abused.

I suppose one could say the flagging system is, but I have yet to see a true case of such; usually when people complain that they were “falsely flagged”, I find that their flagged post is incredibly negative toward a person or concept and thus deserved said flagging.

I was banned because I said that hunter MM needed a total rework. That was the reason for the ban in the forum’s automatic message.

MAYBE there is another reason, but they used that one. Why ? i don’t know.

no, it was used exactly how you’d expect a dislike button to be used.

Not when people were following around normal posters and downvoting out of spite.

I think blue posts were immune to dislikes on the old forums iirc, like there were no downvote button below their posts.

people doing that were not part of the norm, and blizzard should have addressed that/them specifically instead of nuking the dislike button entirely.

It became quite commonplace. And they did address it in true Blizzard fashion. lol

Two of my posts got flagged cause apparently making fun of the Game Awards being an absolute joke with TLOU2 winning everything, is Life Threatening.

Downvote was not a disagree button, either.
That and people would follow my posts around and downvote for literally no reason, and it did not feel great at all.

I was reminiscing the sprite darter on youtube.

the funniest case of abuse i’ve seen, is when someone was called out for using a bunch of alts to :blue_heart: their own posts.

…then someone said “at least they’re not using their alts to bury peoples responses!”
…so the dude decided to “test” if this was possible.

haven’t seen them again since then, so i guess it’s fair to assume that people do get actioned for abusing the system.

it was a dislike button.
people don’t have to like what you say.

honestly, i’m probably among the most hated of forum posters, and i NEVER saw this.

Honestly though the downvote button needs to exist, it might prevent a lot of people from commenting and creating flame wars.

I dislike troll posts AND they happen to be aganst the rules. As such, as long as the tools are there, i will do what i damn well please with said tools.

You are? I usually chuckle o.O

Good try. I really doubt you’re going to reach the people you’re trying to reach, sadly.

Is your alt tupacshaker?
