PSA: flagging is NOT a downvote button

Out of curiosity, was it a singular opinion of yours they were downvoting and if so, what was it? Or are you saying they were just following you around like a cult downvoting all of your posts?

Never reported anyone over opinions on this forum. I have reported, and still do over spamming though. Especially back when mop, and wod were current content. When those LFR threads were being spammed constantly. It was usually that infamous Draenei mage, and a few of his ilk. They would make several a day. Then make more the rest of the week. Nothing wrong with having complaints about something in the game, and wanting to have a discussion about the topic, but keep it confined to one thread lol.

Lol they won’t make a change it unless one of the blue get overwhelming flagged like how the dislike button was

Oh I know, and it’s sad but very true that it’s fine for ppl to abuse other ppl, as long as it isn’t “THEIR” ppl.

:sparkles:

Thats kind of how this forum works though. Take a topic, and spam post it until its the only thing anyone can see because the people posting these topics don’t actually want a discussion, they just want to reeeeee endlessly until whatever their arcane demands are. Then they move on to something more trendy to spam posts about.

True. Also forgot to mention the gazillion spammed flight threads made back during wod hahaha.

i clicked on this thread already knowing OP would be flagged

GD never disappoints :clap:t2:

I vaguely remember them, but then again I don’t think it’s a huge deal. I’m actually more inclined to read something that’s hidden because it’s controversial.

Or you know, we could not have down voting hide posts. It could just show you what people thought of it without hiding it. I think the association with strong disagreement as poor information is misled. Maybe Blizzard thought downvotes would be to hide poor information, but mostly it will be opinion since people don’t talk about just informative topics often.

Exactly what happened. Your snark is unnecessary.

I’ve seen this happen. It was like a bunch of angry stalkers. It started the whole “stop bullying me” trend that happened on the forums for a while back then.

I know. I’ve said for a very long time that if likes are going to be a thing then dislikes (or downvotes as they were once known) should also be a thing as well.

No they shouldn’t hide a post. We now have that baked into the flag option and threads cant be locked from too many reports. A hidden post is not the end of the world, as long as the post doesnt actually break any rules though (and yes that is at the discretion of a mod, so posters should think about what they post).

By the way, a like on the old forums was intended to go to helpful posts so that someone reading it would know the information was good quickly, so even that option wasn’t intended for just agreeing with something.

I don’t remember it, but I hope it involved at least one person posting a link to the “STOP BEING MEAN TO BRITNEY” video.

Olord did it ever.

Until Blizzard brings back the downvote button that use to exist, then people will keep flagging.

A moment of silence for Snowfox. I miss them. /salute

Well he was once a MVP anyway, that’s his biggest trade off.

But weren’t those people notorious trolls who were actually justifiably reported for their trolling and spamming?

Ohhhh now I remember. I forgot about Snowfox.

OF COURSE this post got flagged into the ground…

:joy: :joy: :joy:

We’re not talking about reporting. We’re talking about the people who would follow around normal posters to different threads and downvote them simply for being who they were.

Yeah, it sounds like Blizzard should just accept people want a quick way to agree or disagree. They could make it a selection of reactions, like “Agree/ Disagree/ Informative/ Funny.” It would give a few broad categories of response and cut down on 10chara messages.
