it’s not trolling. the forums aren’t your personal cesspit to post nothing but negativity 24/7. they’re to talk about the game. some of us are actually happy with it. that doesn’t mean we’re trolling.
And you don’t need to make a thread for that purpose - you can state you are happy in one of the other threads on ‘x’ issue. If you think no one ever makes a thread like that purely to troll then you are extremely naive.
I was under the impression everyone hated this game and you aren’t meant to like it lol.
THE BIGGER ISSUE IS THE PEOPLE REPORTING POSTS THAT ABIDE BY THE CODE OF CONDUCT.
If someone’s posting a controversial opinion and significantly more people dislike it than like it, it should be buried, but still available to read if you click on “view ignored content”.
If said opinion breaks the code of conduct, it should be reported.
By not having downvotes, people end up reporting posts that aren’t supposed to be reported, creating a longer line of posts that a GM has to waste their time on to review.
i rarely make threads. check my posts. i do post things in other threads and get flagged because people are so convinced that everyone else should be miserable because they are, and if you’re not, you’re obviously trolling. and if you think the game is fun you’re posting bait etc.
And other people voice their opinion on liking things and don’t get flagged. Wonder why that is.
Even if you get falsely flagged, you still lose your trust level 3 status and blizzard does not restore it.
there’s a lowbie who posts positive things and he’s become a meme specifically because everyone goes out of their way to flag literally every post he makes for trolling because he doesn’t hate the game. you know who i’m talking about.
Actually I don’t know who you are talking about.
There is a reason some people get flagged for things other don’t and mostly it is posting style and timing.
You have to get a forum vacation to have that happen, which generally means you weren’t false flagged because some moderator agreed you broke some rule.
I find it hilarious that people flag stuff due to disagreement. If anything, flagging something makes more people notice it. I can’t speak for everyone, but while I’m sifting through 200+ posts, I’ll bypass most of them – but I will intentionally read EVERY flagged post just to see the content. I’m curious what someone found so inappropriate.
you’re also supposed to get an email for it and they’ve stopped giving it. or letting you appeal at all. it’s just “gg better luck next post.”
And then get disappointed when it turns out to be something completely innocuous, like “I like worgen!”
No it shouldn’t.
And again, people will downvote and report, just like they used to, thus, nothing will change.
And it’ll still happen. You don’t seem to understand that.
Too true… I’m not saying I thrive on forum salt… but I thrive on forum salt.
I find it hard to believe they stopped accepting appeals.
Nope, speaking from personal experience I lost my trust level 3 status a few months ago (during the prepatch) because I got falsely flagged several times.
at this point posting that you enjoy the game and like the direction it’s going is enough to get your post buried for trolling.
Downvotes are and always have been pointless. There’s no merit to bring them back. Don’t think people abused downvoting? Because they did.
The solution is simple make examples of people that abuse the flagging system. Easy problem, easy solution.
-clears throat- “…it should be buried, but still available to read if you click on "view ignored content".”
One time I put in an appeal for a suspension (was only 1 day) and they didn’t respond to it until AFTER the suspension was over saying “upon review you did not broke forum code of conduct, but the suspension is over so who cares” (paraphrasing here)
Recently I got a week suspension, put an appeal in and they still haven’t responded to it
