Problem with Battle.net Desktop App & Kaspersky Security suite

Three days ago, my desktop app stopped working.

I then got the mobile app and authenticator all step up thanks to help on this forum.

I have read quite a few forum responses and tried everything. Nothing has worked. I have flushed my dns, cleared the folders from my program files, checked my Kapersky Security that Battlenet and Blizzard are exceptions to be allowed, completely tried to reinstall everything. Nothing has worked.

I can’t hit the repair scan since it won’t work online.

Three days not being able to play a game I subscribe too is ridiculous. Any ideas?

Try uninstalling, then reinstalling the launcher. You can do so independent of your games.

Make sure it is run as administrator

I have tried that 8 times in the last 3 days. But I will try it again.

You might want to follow up with this on tech support also, but what isn’t working? What is the error you are receiving if any?

I did it again and this is the error I got: BLZBNTBTS00000028

And yes, I did all this earlier this morning:

  1. Update your drivers and operating system to resolve any compatibility issues.

  2. Close all other applications to resolve software conflicts and free up resources.

  3. Configure your security software’s exception list to allow Blizzard applications to run.

  4. Disable any proxies that may interfere with the login module.

I did try the technical forum and no one responded:

Ok, I found your original post with a different issue on tech support with the BLZBNTBNA00000A8D.

What is your primary source of internet? As far as the mobile bnet app, it should work on a phone connected to wifi. Ultimately all this sounds like you are having an issue on the network, maybe even a block to your connection to the Blizzard servers.

The mobile app issue has been solved as of last night. My autheticator is working fine thanks to help on this forum.

But your original issue did not start with the authenticator? It appears to have started with the launcher, which unfortunately lead you down that rabbit hole.

Yes. It started with the launcher. I played wow early in the morning on 12/29. 11AM I tried to log back in and play, and I could not get the launcher to work. Today is day 3.

You can temporarily bypass the launcher, just FYI, start wow.exe directly from the install folder for retail. Not sure about classic. This will not help you on patch days. I wonder though if it will connect.

think its like drive c/ x64 program files/ world of warcraft /retail and kozzae is right , sometimes when you start wow exe the battle.net app reboots. Also good to make sure your shortcut isnt corrupted, start the battle.net app from the folder and see what happens. I have seen it corrupted on mac not windows , but anything is possible.

I have my Blizzard games on my D drive. So I have to open it from there.

OMG! I went to the retail folder and opened the wow,exe and I am almost in! TY for suggesting that!!!

Have to change email and pw to current.

Still to figure out launcher problem, but I can at least play some wow.

At least I was able to play wow from the desktop by putting a wow.exe shortcut there on the last day of 2023.

I was feeling brave since I cleaned out cache and pws, so I tried to download the battlenet desktop launcher again. Despite all I did a day ago, I couldn’t not log into it.

I spent the bulk of 3 days trying to fix this. I am stumped.

Idk if my problem is the same as yours, but also cannot play wow from the bnet launcher (just says ‘logging in’ forever).

Only way I can play if by opening bnet in offline mode or wow.exe :<

Been like this for weeks.

Has everyone tried uninstalling the launcher with a program like io bit uninstaller and reinstalling it. It sounds like a permissions issue or a AV or firewall programs’ getting in its way Using the .exe will only work until there is a patch .

Silly thought , assuming you installed launcher and the play button is saying " logging in forever’ and you can see the gear wheel icon next to the play button, click game settings and make sure the installed drive is correct . If the whole battlenet page isnt loading then disregard this post. I just get the feeling the launcher is pointing to the wrong folder. I got the feeling that it might be looking for c drive instead of d or something and you also may want to look at the " wow launcher not launching from Battlenet " thread , it says how to switch to dx11 if 12 isnt working .

Just downloaded the io bit uninstaller and uninstalled Battle.net desktop app. Will try to re-install it again.
