Probably time to roll back the class changes, Rets and ferals way too high on expected DPS

For real, it feels like Rogues got straight caught in the crossfire where Blizzard has either been actively buffing or tweaking gameplay design for so many classes (which has pretty much uniformly led to a buff), and we just keep getting comparatively worse and worse.

Projected to be #15 and #20 in ICC now. Feels bad for a pure dps…

Still frost by a slim margin over blood (with SM and self-used unholy frenzy).

Unholy probably falls off a lil too hard.

Yep feral gets top tier mobility to go with their top tier utility, top tier damage, and even great CC lol

Yeah, the entire feral kit leaves them at a spot where they shouldn’t be the top performer on DPS.

It’d be more ok if they were down near where ret/fury are, not fire mage / MM hunter.

“Bring the player, not the class” kind of falls apart when you have a DPS option that’s clearly better for DPS. You can usually rework a group to have needed utility from other sources.

If you ignore that Fire Mage and MM Hunter have passive cleave while Feral has none maybe.

Your recommended change puts feral slightly worse than they were pre-change (the single target threat would be better I guess).
Feral was going to be dropped from the comp before the change, regardless of their “kit”.

The changes gave them more DPS than a 5% pull back would take away. It’s also not a problem if MM hunter and Fire mage are ahead of feral. They are kind of supposed to be.

Buff was 7-8% dps increase and the OOC glyph nerf was 1-2%. Bearweaving was simming at 16,000-16,100 before all the changes , which is almost exactly what feral would sim if you changed Naturalist to 5%. Meaning you would be better off just not taking the glyph, because you would be the same for ST and worse for aoe.

It’s also not a problem if Feral has slightly better single target damage than two classes with good passive cleave damage, when their class design is based around good sustained single target damage.

I mean, that was kind of the goal… a rotation simplification, not a buff to top DPS. A small trade off on cleave isn’t the end of the world there.

“With this adjustment we expect that the best Feral DPS players in the world may expect somewhere between a 5% and 10% damage increase depending on the encounter while no longer requiring shifting into bear form to optimize output and will provide an even larger percentage increase in the damage output of those players who were not employing the Bearweaving rotation prior to this change.”

So their goal was to simpify the roation and increase dps that they felt was undertuned. And they still aren’t top dps in full phase bis, mages are for pure ST and get significantly better in cleave situations.

The ST part is likely going to change when the sims get updated with recent discoveries.

Poor casters thinking they were free from crit supression when it turns out they weren’t.

As if the OoC glyph would be bad for cleave if it had the Naturalist nerf attached lmao

For aoe it would be worse than just not using the glyph and using Gotw to fish for procs. Do you disagree with that?

I don’t care to argue with you, it’s obvious why you want your inauthentic buff to stay.

I mean I personally thought bearweaving was a lot more, even though feral probably would have been completely dropped from optimal comps.

Just people arguing for why it is too OP don’t really ever come up with a valid arguement other than “OMG you can’t do good dps and have a brez”, which is a terrible arguement.

Super durable, great utility, great mobility, yeah they totally need to also be top dps with their Classic-only buff!

I don’t think the issue is with ferals being good, they were supposed to be good. It’s with them being inauthentically incredible. They have some of the highest single target sustained damage and burst damage and burst cleave. While also providing two of the more valuable raid CDs with Brez and innervate. While also being able to swap into Bear and either act as a flex tank or even salvage a wipe by picking up the final stages of a boss for a few seconds if things go wrong.

I mean, idk, frankly it’s indefensible. They don’t need to be obliterated, but they 100% need to be toned down a little. Blizzard was just a little two handed, and they need to backtrack so other specs don’t feel quite as useless.

Imagine someone precious and fragile ego getting in the way of progression because “numbers”. This whole “someone is doing more dps than I can do” is simply stupid.

For sure dude.

Meh haters gonna hate.

Ferals very much are the most deserving, but the topic became mostly about Rets because a ton of rets piled in to explain why its okay theyre overpowered. Ferals all kept their head down lol.

I play multiple classes. I love my feral. Its OP as f*** though. My pal I mostly play as prot but part of the issue with 6 raiding characters is decking them all out equally.

I dont think you believe this because if tomorrow blizzard said Rets get nerfed 50% and warriors get buffed 50% you’d probably say the numbers are now important.

Yes. The total reshuffling of the class ranks is what is so bad. Its the 18% to feral and 12% to ret with 0% to warrior that causes people to raise their eyebrows. If instead it was like, Ferals 10%, rets 8%, and warriors 5%, it wouldnt be perfect and feral would still be a technical outlier but it wouldnt be so insane. It wouldnt totally reshuffle class ranks. Maybe reshuffle a tie but not make feral #1 overall.

They should have just left it alone, LIKE THEY SAID THEY WOULD. What changed? Kris Zierhut and Brian Birmingham left, and Aggrend was like “now is my chance to buff my ret paladin that I raid and log with every week?” Like wtf happened?
