They’re likely doing it due to predicted shortfalls in Overwatch and Diablo 4.
So, they’re pushing other departments to make up for it.

I feel like this issue could’ve been (in part) prevented if the pricing for subs in other countries just automatically adjusted to the value of USD in relation to their currency (in my case AUD) the main problem is the sudden change in value when we’re used to it being (at the time $19.95 or something I don’t remember) and now the price is roughly 20% higher which for some is too big of a jump and many Australians and New Zealanders are likely worried about the fact of: “What if it doesn’t go back down if and when our dollar value is better?”
Sure some people would likely complain about the prices always changing but at the very least players in other countries probably wouldn’t need to fear their prices being stuck at a higher value due to Activision Blizzard refusing to fix it.
OCE already has a pretty jaded view of Activision Blizzard considering our forum is left decrepit and the only new post we got recently from them is in regards to the price changes, among the usual reasons a majority of the player base has gripes with the company

I’m OCE and seeing the price hike has definitely put this game on my no longer play radar.
Call your elected officials and hold a town hall meeting to talk about the wow sub price.
With all the suffering going on right now in the world this would be the top priority.
Whoever called for this price hike, isn’t aware of the current state of the game.
They’ve also given the OCE players no means to provide feedback on the change.
This is gana hurt em.
well, thats unfortunate.
may i know which game do you plan to swap WoW with?
I think Ascendant is free.
There might even be a new Warhammer mmorpg out by the time my sub runs out.
About as top a priority as a 20% price hike during a CoL crisis yeah?
Hey all, here are my thoughts on this matter.
-I don’t really PVP either.
I count myself as a casual there is nothing else to do in the game unless I go more hardcore which I don’t want to do, they said with these three expansions they wanted it shorter so they could cover the story faster but so far Season 1 has been going for over 4 months which is 1/3 of a year, depending on how many seasons there are, it will be the same length expansion as previous ones, maybe it is just me wanting more idk, but I feel like having to wait for Khadgar in a wheelchair for what was it like 21 days or something? is really lame, in the broad spectrum of the game in my opinion that more needs to be done to justify raising the prices.
Siren Isle is an example, it has the BARE MINIMAL things to do like seriously?
Also had a mate that was not able to even play Shadowlands at all as the starting quest was bugged for over 6 months, he had to wait for a recent patch for it to be fixed, content locked out for players that bought an expansion and had to wait for a fix, that is not right in my eyes.
At the end of the day, if they are releasing quality content that isn’t a mess then I would be fine with a price increase, in a lot of instances like Cata classic that has got more bugs in it than my back lawn.
I think most of them are fixed now but stuff like this [Should] be tested beforehand especially if it’s a game breaking bug, that stuff doesn’t slip under the radar, not easily anyway.
I am on the edge of deciding if it’s worth playing
Am I just talking it overboard or does this resonate with others?
Cheers.
thats good to know, ty.
But isnt Warhammer an mmo and it also has a subscription fee?
How do you know the won’t?
The American dollar hasn’t stopped winning for the last 20 years so there hasn’t been a single scenario yet where they would need to do such a thing.
You’re trying to prove a negative…
Because they didn’t when the american dollar was parity with the AUD.
LOL. Oh man. Americans. Not even aware of their own history.
The AUD hasn’t had any noticable growth against the dollar since 2010.
And before that was the global financial crisis… so not like companies were in any position to start shelling out deals over currency rates.
Keep losing tho.
Wanna compare USD to the yen, the euro, the peso, CAD, AUD, over the last 20 years?
Typical non American luke warm water IQ takes blaming country of citizenship over data.
Bet you they don’t reduce the price back down after the AUD re-appreciates against the USD (which it inevitably will).
Shocker.
dang that sucks for OCE players
my sympathies
Will it?
Because its been 20 years and it hasnt yet… soooooooo
Oh I see, your ignorance was shown so now you’re trying to change what you said. “The American dollar has stopped winning in the last 20 years… except when it wasn’t.”
Keep #winning.
lol wut? Have you even looked at the the historical data of AUD v USD? It goes up and down all the time.
Oh you mean during Covid and the global financial crisis…
Yes… its good to put relevant reason behind the data points.
The fact is… the new prices they are charging in AUD perfectly align to where the AUD sits against the dollar.
get. over. it
