Whoever thought the scarlets needed to be racist despite the statues to other race heroes, while also being zealots of a faith that’s really got no values that directly facilitate racism… being demon pawns was enough.

As I went into a very long, agonizing rant earlier in a chat:
The annoying consistency at which they continue to use the Scarlet Crusade as an analog for real world religious schisms and strife, the less an interesting aspect of the lore it becomes.
Going from religious freedom fighters desperately trying to retake their fallen kingdom from its sentient, sadistic (remember you pricks were blightbombing, kidnapping civilians, and practicing plaguecraft since vanilla if you were Forsaken- NOT TO MENTION THE PUMPKIN THEFT) but ultimately undead remnants to a very unsubtle parody of the catholic church and the writers distinct ideology is continuously annoying.
No, I won’t play an Argent because at least the Scarlets have a personality.

I saw him right after the questline. He was chilling with a few other named NPCs right after you finish dunking on the Scarlet and see the cutscene. No dialogue or anything (Least not for Horde).
Gilneas definitely felt phoned in just to get us to shut up about it.

After the quests you can see him chilling on top of the prison and he has a little dialogue.

I uh…I think that’s called personal growth. Just maybe.
On one side, Tess is the coolest Greymane, and I’m glad she gets to lead.
On the other side… she should be a Worgen.
But her accepting the leading role is in character since BFA.

It does feel like scarlets are the fall guys to give us someone to kill. They made other “badass” crusader groups like Brotherhood of the Light on our side but Scarlets still got the coolest costumes and aesthetics in many ways.
Hopefully they come back from this one day.

Cataclysm, the expansion that took place, at minimum twelve years ago from the point this quest happens. This isn’t a retcon, this is people changing over time.
