Since then it has catapulted FF with expansions Heavensward and Stormblood because Blizz tried to remove flying and continuous its crusade against flying. Quite remarkable by industry standards. But a lot of the anti flying devs are no longer working on WoW and only a few remain while more pro flying devs are still on board.
It’s annoying not to have flying it makes the game more of a grind and a slog especially when you are at level cap. The reason they hold off on adding it for so long is because their are worried about their time played metric investors care about most likely. Thus not having flying for over half the expansion makes people have longer play sessions.
Did I stutter?
I’ve played WoW long enough, despite the 4.5 year absence, to know the devs are not wise or enlightened or even remotely skillful at what they do. They are in fact constantly in denial over how poor their decisions are to the point that they had to start hiding how much opposition there was.
[I self-censored myself]
…and the delusional rants of these anti-flight nutjobs make you wonder if they’re about to start crucifying any players who insist that flight is possible. I can definitely see a church in the making here.
I play FF14 also and I like the way they do flying its always released at expansion launch. Basically requires 3 things. Explore the whole zone maps, find and click green wind orbs called aether currents around each area, finish main quest storylines in each zones.
The devs do not seem to care if people fly after leveling though a zone and doing the quest lines and finding some hidden things on the map.
What is interesting about FF is that the story is integral to progression in that game. But it still allows players options once they have moved beyond it.
Compared to BFA where the story is throttled and heavily time gated and it is a sad comparison.
I hate to break it to you but the only person doing an aggressive rant right now is you. According to you, anyone who dislikes flying (i.e. disagrees with you) is a “nutjob” and Blizzard is wholly incompetent for not sharing your vision of how the game should be.
Great points.
Let me add that as a returning player your feedback is valuable. From what I have observed returning players are met with three separate patchfinders and soon to be four with shadowlands. It is really a punitive system put in place because the devs want less and less people flying. The end goal is the complete removal of flying.
No it was because Ion doesn’t like it.
That would be too much work and adding fun content has been a no no especially with how BFA is designed around spreadsheets. Patch 8.3 = More AP grinding for azerite passive slot, legendary cloak grind, corrupt forged gear, etc. It is going to be the low point for retail and put the final nail in the coffin for BFA. There is no recovery for BFA as it has not materialized.
He took his punishment then actually interviewed Ion at Blizzcon. You’ve never made a mistake?
No, it’s the position of the game designers who define what immersion is for the purposes of the game. It’s the fact of the matter. My opinion isn’t relevant.
Immersion is a feeling and opinion. Do you as a player feel immersed in the game? Game designers do not decide that for a player. Only the player feels that. And often what is immersive to one player breaks it for another.
Lets not forget that cata started out strong. Flying wasn’t really even an issue. What was an issue was all the changes that came with 4.0.1 including class homogenization, ability purges and the new talent trees. None of which was well received, you take that with the massive content drought and it was doomed. you can not blame catas failures on flying.
I didn’t realize google was the only place to get information
It isn’t
I didn’t realize game forums werent for conversations
They are
and im also pretty sure you could have answered him in less words that it took to tell him to google it
Im also sure I could have. I didn’t because his rhetorical question was of the pointed variety that deserved nothing less than either being pointedly ignored or scathing sarcasm neither of which I felt like at the time.
You see Bojanglz knows exactly who Preach is. He (Bojaglz) has been around these forums since before Cataclysm. He has railed against him time and time again. Therefore to purportedly deny knowledge of who Preach is can only be seen as sarcastic. Thus his qualifier denying sarcasm at the end of his post.
I was 49 when I quit in 2015 over flying, and was gone for over 4 years. Definitely Gen X.
I came back for Classic, and realized it sucks quite hard without Dungeon Finder. So…if the anti-flying nutjobs can force their views onto Retail, how about we try to force Dungeon Finder into Classic?
I like it! Kind of a backhanded backatcha? Nice. I hope you get your wish!
Classic is an example of why flying is needed.
Is it, though? I don’t think it is.
Classic is all well and good but it’s just not the same game. I don’t have the same mindset when I’m playing Classic as I do when I play retail.
I guess some folks don’t realize that withholding valuable information is the way of life in the Blizzardverse.
I didn’t realize that the internet Identity of a well known Twitch streamer was all that valuable.
Which is why those of us who truly have no idea who Preach is still have no idea, despite asking here, because all we get is mockery and “sarcasm” that isn’t funny on any level.
If you are here on the forums looking for information on who Preach is in a thread that really is not a thread about Preach as it is about No Flying and/or Pathfinder (which you would know had you read the OP) then you are probably in the wrong place. The information is out there and you are free to look it up any time you like. However, those of us in discussion about Pathfinder and No Flying are not the best source of information about Preach or any other Twitch personality or streamer.
When I come in to a thread, as a general rule, I read the OP and at least 4 or 5 of the replies to see what is going on and if I have anything salient to add or to respond to. If I don’t I move on. If I do I contribute. If I need to ask a question I ask it AFTER I have done the (what should be) required homework of at least googling the topic I am unfamiliar with. I take people at their word and then attempt to verify their statements through third party sites or internet searches to get a gist of whether they are on the up and up or are pinging ye olde BS-O-Meter. Unless of course in reading their posts I determine that they are pinging ye olde BS-O-Meter because what they post is not facilely logical (the use of an ad hominem, argument of the beard, sunk cost fallacy, post hoc ergo procter hoc fallacy, affirming the antecedent/consequent, cognitive bias, and my favorite of course the Modal Scope fallacy, just to name a few will cause me to question their posts outright).
Now when someone that I have personally seen on these forums like Bojanglz asks a question of the nature of: Preach who is Preach? I question both their sanity and their sincerity. Having no information on their sanity I assume them to be sane (they are here after all and offering their opinion and not posting gibberish therefore at least a modicum of sanity must exist) and that leaves sincerity to flutter in the breeze. Since they then must also not be sincere in their question (posting history reveals this) then snark is all that they were truly asking for. Thus I gave them that which they asked for.
Is it, though? I don’t think it is.
Classic is all well and good but it’s just not the same game. I don’t have the same mindset when I’m playing Classic as I do when I play retail.
I feel the same way. Classic has a different meaning to me than retail. I can’t properly describe it but Classic doesn’t feel like retail if that makes any sense although even in Classic I miss flight.
You tried this wild new thing they have now? Its called Google. If you genuinely don’t know and you genuinely care then I suggest you try Google. I’m pretty sure you will get the answer you are looking for.
LMAO love when kids can take the time to type something like this out instead of just answering the question. So sad how kids are these days.
Or, y’know, you could just look up the answer instead of being a buffoon.
