He said it well in one of his recent videos, before blizzcon. They had the opportunity in WoD to demonstrate why playing the game on the ground was so much “better.” They failed hard. At this point, it just seems like a very unprofessional sense of pride, in forcing you to “see their content” that keeps propagating this failed system. I truly hope at this point their upper management steps in. There was a time flying was a feature, and the world was built with it in mind. That worked for everyone and worked well.
Classic is a perfect example of why playing on the ground is better
Still want to provoke pro flying threads? After you said you don’t care one way or another? I mean you back peddled on that, my bad. You do care but admitted to trolling pro flying people.
How cute. You get called out and I’m the one that needs to calm down and breathe
Funny, then, that the idea of a Wrath server got a bigger applause.
Totally disagree. I’m siding with Blizzard on this one… flying completely changed the Warcraft experience, and not for the better.
I’m going out on a limb here but… do you pvp? Because pvping seems to be the only reason people generally dislike it.
Personally I think flyings great - but they need to build content that requires it. E.g. ‘the first raid can only be accessed through a portal on a floating island’ or whatever. Or add content that can only be accessed once you’ve got flight up and running.
I get locking it down for levelling once through zones but… they hold it back way too long.
I haven’t gotten pathfinder once since the concept was invented. I’ve never felt bad or hindered and quite enjoyed playing on the ground, they designed a beautiful immersive world to run through. Flying just doesn’t offer much joy.
Vocal minority on forums cry about it , you know where the rest of the players are ? Enjoying the gorgeous art and zones on their ground mounts .
Kudos to the amazing art team !
You’re a rare gem, Xan. More power to you!
Classic’s world content isnt also hot garbage
Hell, you don’t even need to lock it down for leveling, if you make it part of the experience! Look at Twisting Nether in BC, or Storm Peaks and Icecrown in Wrath! Those zones were designed with flying in mind, required flying to get to places, and were, all in all, supremely excellent parts of their expansions.
Fairly sure nobody though BC or Wrath were changed for the worse with flying.
I’m pro flying but I really couldn’t give a damn what preach thinks.
He is egotistical, stuck up, annoying, condescending… and most importantly his views are worth no more than the views of any other wow player.
What is a “Preach”?
No, but it is boring as can be. The quests are yawn-inducing. Run for 20 minutes to point A, run 20 minutes back to turn in said quest. Run back again for 20 minutes, kill mob boss A., run back for 20 minutes.
Repeat, rinse, recycle. You can keep that hot garbage.
Didn’t seem to stop y’all jumping on them flying mounts in BC though did it?
Been in the game since 2007 and it’s made the game better. If flying was such a harmful feature it would have hurt BC and wrath.
Will preach claim he got threats on this also for them sweet youtube clicks?
(Why this post responded to you i have no idea)
I’d argue that it’s made certain aspects of the game more convenient, and convenient isn’t always better.
Please tell me this was misphrasing and you don’t actually believe the devs themselves have any control over whether or not we get flying. The upper management is already involved. The upper management are the ones that decided to remove flying in the first place.
