Pre-Alpha Feedback: Dracthyr and Evoker

It is a nice version, but the more the merrier!

I mainly play melee and tanks as well.

That would be ideal, though I can understand rolling them out in patches if applying the cosmetics takes too long for each race.

Agreed, would be an interesting idea.

Shamans I kind of understand but I suppose that is because I personally would not play one. However, there is definitely a specialization based solely around the Black Dragonflight just waiting to be used.

Yeah, and with only five dragonflights I think some of the specializations would have been too stretched in some cases to do four specializations, specifically bronze.

I expect to see more models come alpha at this rate. I think the mention of there being a bulkier version was mainly lip-service and not the truth…

More options and more ways to play would be welcome indeed.

Agreed.

you pay 60 cad for the expansion and 20 cad a month the least they can do is offering content that satisfy not half but a majority of the player base

Mortal-dragon fusions are actually existing WoW lore. Maloriak is the most well known example. Drakonid are also very similar, being mortal races that were turned into dragons. That Neferian was trying to emulate his father’s experiments is believable.

Personally, I think just saying that bipedal dragons evolved in the Dragon Isles during its 10,000 year isolation would be believable, but they went the fusion route.

I’ve seen other people make this argument and personally I don’t agree. I think it’s just because we’ve never seen a model quite like theirs before.

We don’t know yet what weapons they can equip and how they will be worn on their models as far as I know. I would agree that their weapons - be it a staff or sword - should be visible.

I agree they should have more armor visibility. At least with 10.0 items going forward. I want to see my tier set on my Evoker.

And yet a lot of proposed fixes I’ve seen have their legs and feet made even bigger.

I personally like their models, but I’m fine with more options too.

Because they do in fact have the same rig as Nathrezim and demon form Demon Hunters.

I don’t really understand this demand that all playable races be sexually dimorphic in appearance.

Mixed feelings. Personally, I wouldn’t have given them visage forms at all, but that’s me.
If they can be in visage form in combat, I would prefer to have visage forms locked to faction you choose and give them an option to pick any core race as their visage form.

They don’t represent the dragonflights though, they are just invoking draconic energies. I personally think this is fine as is, but I would be down for an earth energy themed tank spec.

My disappointment would be immense if they did this. Literally my most anticipated feature of the expansion.

Agreed. I made a post about this.

Agreed.

More options are good.

I wish visage form wasn’t a thing, but… since it is, I think it would be best if they had the option to keep their visage form in combat, yeah.

I didn’t misinterpret what was said. Fighting as an elf. Go play elves. I think this is a bad idea.

Please do not shut down a discussion, he/she has been at least civil thus far and I value his/her opinion.

Who is to say what opinion is objectively good or bad though?

Thanks. I respect that.

There is no elf evoker

So far we have not seen enough to make an informed decision. I agree they seem a little off and I have my concerns. I think they are too tall only because we have not seen them compared to a human, orc, or dwarf.

Giving players more options with customization is always good. I am also a little concerned with the lack of armor appearing on the dragon form. An easy fix for me would be to just make you transfer back to your visage form after combat ends.

I don’t think Envokers need to be separated from the dragons, or they need more classes to play. It fits a very specific fantasy for me.

Re

we all have our opinions. In the end it’s Blizzard that decides. I Love what they are trying to do with the dracthyr and that’s the vision I want to see

Most of the armor will not be visible only tabards shoulders and belt will be visible if I remember well

not only that but select appearances in the barber shop. For me this is where it seems a little lacking

They are not our friends ā€œyetā€, you picking one and making one doesn’t automatically make it friend of the alliance or horde until you finish their starting area which we will have to wait and see as to why they join us.

There are no armored dragon?

Maloriak was a Human before being mutated into what he then became. Dracthyr are the ā€œessences of dragons fused with the adaptability of mortalsā€. The way that reads suggests no base creature.

According to Wowpedia, Drakonids are the result of mortals hanging out with dragons for too long, though I expect this to be retconned as Blizzard mentioned giving them lore in Dragonflight.

I think they went that route because Wowpedia says the Dracthyr went into hibernation when the Dragon Isles did.

I believe the base model is the female Dreadlord, but then it does not matter as I know many players like the model as is; I just want more options for the players like me who don’t.

Agreed, nothing really mentioned about weapons as far as I have seen. However, how will a staff that sheathes on the back work with the wings? Will weapons just clip through or turn invisible like when using some back items in Shadowlands? An interesting question I would like to know the answer to, though we may not know until they are available for testing.

Agreed; at the very least Dragonflight items should be designed in mind with the Dracthyr model especially their class tier set.

More options are fine, though I believe their lower body is too big for the rest of the model.

And I like the fact Dracthyr are not sexually dimorphic, just pointed out that it contributes with other issues I have with the base model.

That would be a fine compromise as Dracthyr would more than likely choose to look like the mortal races they have allied with, but with the increased cross-faction participation there should be a way to unlock opposite faction race appearances.

I see, I just feel like the dragonflight charged with defending life should be part of the healing specialization, but I may end up liking the way the specializations work as of now; I need to try them to make an informed opinion on that aspect.

Yes, this is my most extreme proposed solution and actually do not want it incorporated, just thought to include as many ideas as possible even ones I disagree with for the most thorough discussion.

I wouldn’t mind if you linked said topic in the reply I am replying to here.

Not much to respond to here unfortunately.

not in human form, the clothes are just an illusion otherwise they will just shred it when they shift to their original form

Of course.

A fair take indeed. I have not thought about the comparisons to other races.

I have seen ideas about an automatic transformation, and that would be nice for those that want to be in Dracthyr form for combat then humanoid visage form outside of combat. If the Dracthyr form has customization options that I end up liking, then I would probably use this if it becomes an option.

Agreed, and with how intrinsically tied the Evokers are to Dracthyr it may be better to add more classes to Dracthyr instead of moving Evoker to other races.

And that is perfectly fine. I guess my follow-up question would be why adding more player agency and options to the way they play and engage with Dracthyr Evokers would be bad?
