Post Flagging Feature

yes it is right in the CoC

Ouch, so there’s a variance based on regions. Too bad.

This is what is in the US forum code of conduct
“Abusing the Reported Post feature by sending false alarms or nonsensical messages” Is that different in EU?

But that actually makes sense now as to why certain folks are doing it without much thought or directions since there’s no negative repercussions at least in the US and there should be.

Interesting on some of specific folks breaking the code and getting away with it while trying their best to get others sanctioned. LOL.

There are repercussions on this forum. People have indicated they got a vacation for doing this and for even mass liking their own posts with alts.

Abuse of the reporting system is a CoC violation.

Everything you report gets reviewed by a GM. If they agree with your report, they action the post or poster. If they don’t, they reverse the auto-suppress that happens when a bunch of people flag something. If you have a pattern of flagging stuff that isn’t a violation (or at least borderline), they can and will action your account for it, temp suspension is the stated punishment.

Also worth noting that each account has a limited number of flags per day, so it’s not like one motivated person could just flag everything you ever write, there would have to be multiple people (or at least multiple distinct accounts) involved.

Here is your answer.

It takes 3 reports to make your post hidden. You will get a 48 hour ban off the forums for doing this. I tested in 2 weeks ago when someone brought it to my attention. If your post isnt in any violation you will get a green tick on your portrait up top saying a staff has restored your post.

Actually, you can still post while you are “under review” for your post and I know about the restored thing it’s happened a lot. LOL.

I also believe that if you ever do get silenced it’s based on your history on how long it is.

This is like the fifth thread about this in like two days.

I assume its whoever is doing the forum banning. I found most of my bans(3 total now) from responding to green text MVPs. So I just dodge a certain few from any discussion and have 1 of them on a 6 month ignore.

I did a search before I posted as “latest post” for report, flag to see if I could find a thread on it and nothing came up that was recent.

I apologize if my post has offended you or perhaps I didn’t search the forums all that well

I might know who you are talking about

Although some of the folks are amazing I do agree that you have to be careful as to who you annoy, or end up aggravating as if they have a large following you are going to end up with a lot of ignored/flagged posts.

I see some posts unflagged almost as fast as they were flagged. Forums are crazy.

This. Exactly this.

One of my post just got flagged, i’m actually impressed.

Kind of wonder if Blizzard sanctions abusive flaggers, since they basically waste moderator’s time.

Here’s the post :

Its just a vague recollection of memories from when i first started playing.

And somehow it “offended” someone?

I just had one of my posts flagged also but I am not sure which one it is have to go look for it lol. All of them seem to be for “trolling” which I guess when it’s done the intention is the “flagger” is hoping that due to the vagueness of the feature they can get sanctions on the poster even if it wasn’t really deserved based on that… kinda sad

Oh well…

I’ll never get why it’s so en vogue of late to remove this feature.

Posted to CS and as a suggestion not too long ago.
Worth requesting yourself as well, more the merrier.

Going to avoid that forum for now, as I am sure the minute I respond to that thread, I am going to get flagged for trolling or whatever for bringing up an old thread.

As much as I wanted to contribute, getting flagged for complimenting posters and for simply disagreeing with someone makes me nervous to post lol

Edit: Went through a bunch of my latest messages / posts and can’t find the latest hidden /flagged post. Weird. Can some flagged posts get removed without a green notification?

Totally get that, there’s a separate place to suggest features for the site.

Edit: https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/15550

Moderation on these boards is up to the whims of the CS staff. They have no unified or consistent measure by which to enforce the rules we agree to when we use the forums.

Inb4 this post gets removed by staff for… trolling? Lmfao.

Fact is the forum mob rules these forums. The mods just respond to what the mob decides. Then a flagged post gets removed for a week, when its back and people want to talk about it again they get re reported for necroing and then the post is gone again, along with any possibility of having good conversations on topics.

Hi there thanks for the reply.

To a certain extent you are right although lately the GM or actual Blizzard person that reviews have removed multiple flags that were not warranted so doing a good job there. (I cross my fingers on that statement, as I think I might have 1-2 pending still, lol)
