Returning player here. It seems like not a lot of people have returned back to play Dragonflight. Has anyone else noticed that? It’s definitely not dead, but I feel like there hasn’t been a big wave of players returning quite yet. This isn’t a criticism on Blizzard or WoW, just an observation. Hopefully things pick back up because the expansion seems pretty good so far, a lot of good changes made.
It doesn’t help that sharding has been turned on for RP realms, which has made the local population smaller again.
I think it’s the sharding. If you have TRP and you search zones, you’ll see there are tons of players. We’re just currently sharded.

It will return, there is a lot of sharding like people said and there is SO much to do in Dragonflight I think it will be a hot second before public RP shows up. If you want to try it out, maybe put in your TRP that you’re IC out in the Dragon Isles (if you are) and maybe you’ll run into some people who want to talk!
For now , it’s only been a few weeks and theres so much to explore - so have fun and keep an eye out on the events being advertised to find some people!
Like others have said, alot of us are out in the new zones enjoying the content. As for who is already here, 2022 saw the formation of the Wyrmrest Community Project, in order to breathe some life back into WrA RP. 700+ of us in the discord says we are far from “dead.”
The bulk of the playerbase is probably in the new zones for the first few weeks of an expansion. Grab 10 more levels and come clip through the few hundred people hanging around Valdrakken.
I think a new expansion came out that’s good with a good capital city with a hub you can turn off NPCs in and people have been RPing in it
