That means your client needs to update.

If it doesn’t do it automatically, I’d first try fully restarting your PC.

You have to launch the Battlenet app to update if you normally use a direct link to WoW.

I have the same message but it claims its up to date & I am fresh starting.

Then reboot your computer before relaunching the bnet app.

What version of the game? (Shadowlands, Classic)

What version number does your launcher report?

Make sure to restart the PC, then run the launcher in admin mode.

Has nothing to do with rebooting as I just uninstalled the game & reinstalled it. Has nothing to do with rebooting battle.net & I played the past few days no problem this is a new issues after the last update on Tuesday because there were no issues prior to that & even if their had been a fresh install should have fixed it but it did not.

Sometimes the launchers can have multiple instances running, looks up to date, but prevents the launcher from updating. Rebooting usually helps clear that up. Your PC, that is.

Did you follow up with the tech support forum?

Is it similar to this?

The more common causes of this - is multiple launchers actually being active, which is why it is recommended to reboot your system fresh.

Other things can block downloads, security software, ad blockers, even other programs that use overlays - but by far the easiest first step is to try rebooting.

I had to uninstall Battle.net client but I backed up my new install I just did of the game to one of my 8TB hard drives before doing so. Then I did a fresh install of the battle.net client & the game runs fine. So some how the launcher because faulty in the last update. In any case both the game & the launcher are once again installed on their own 500GB M2 drive which is super fast.

So for others with this problems don’t uninstall the game but instead uninstall the launcher for battle.net then reinstall it & it should be fine.

Don’t need admin mode! I am running Windows 11 Pro 64Bit I don’t need to set admin mode to fix the issue.
