Battle.net launcher not updating

I decided to do a scan and repair to fix some issues I’ve been having, after trying twice before work this morning I keep getting "Whoops, something went wrong, " followed by a code. I tried 7 more times after coming home from work and even uninstalled and reinstalled the battle.net launcher and still getting the exact same message, I don’t know what else to do.

“Whoops! Looks like something broke. Give it another shot.” Followed by the code BLZBNTAGT00000BB8

Is there a green icon overlaying the blue icon on top left? On battle.net

You might just need to restart computer.

Or did you click the green/blue icon and it still will not update?

Most of the time this happens if wow is still running in the background.
Also if the battle.net account has no time and it is trying to update Classic.
You can not play Classic if you have no subscription time.

I’m trying to play retail, I see no icons of color in the top left corner.

Nothing? I’ve posted this problem on Desktop App Tech Support forums and there’s several people having the same problem as me, I’d like a fix to my problem. I’m currently paying a monthly subscription on a game that I can’t play, this needs a solution.

try this — C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft_retail_ WoW.exe (or where ever you have WoW installed) this will bypass the launcher. this may work and gets you into the game… if not you might need to uninstall / reinstall World of Warcraft…

It’s not World of Warcraft that’s the problem, it’s the launcher that won’t let me access the game that is. I tried Program Files thingy and was told not found.

Well, don’t know what else to do so I just uninstalled the game and am reinstalling it now, only option I have left since Blizzard can’t take the time out of their day to address this issue themselves.

Greetings,

This issue is specific to the files on the computer. The BB8 error means that game has become corrupt normally due to a hiccup in the connection while trying to update. The only real fix is the uninstall/reinstall you have done.

Just wanted to provide information on the cause of this issue and the normal fix just in case if happens again.

Use VPN server for updating, it is working

My app wouldn’t update this evening. I opened the task manager and noticed there were multiple battle.net processes running, even though the application and game were both closed. Closed them through the task manager and tried again. Still nothing. Opened task manager again and upon closer inspection I found a worldofwarcraft voice proxy thing still running. Closed that and, voila, the app updated normally.

Summary: Manually closing all battle.net processes and the worldofwarcraft voice proxy thing through the task manager might resolve the issue.

i have WowVoiceProxy.exe disabled by renaming it to WowVoiceProxy.exe.bak so it will never run when using Wow.exe to bypass the launcher . i only use the battle net launcher if there’s a update and delete the new WowVoiceProxy.exe when the the game has finished the update … i wish there’s a on/off button for players that do not want to use Wow Voice Proxy…

been using Wow.exe since 2004 and never had any problems
