Policy Update for Input Broadcasting Software

Why not just ban --AFK botters-- using multiboxing software? That is the root of the problem, not the ‘at keyboard’ multiboxers. IMHO.

Nah I don’t like the idea of one character moving around due to playing input then the a program being responsible for the other 1-39 characters moving around

Honestly - Anchor Weed won’t be a problem. Zin’Anthid will be. The go to herbalist farm is to group farm a zone and when you find an Anchor Weed, everyone flies over and clicks it then goes back to their area to search for the next. Heck - I’ve found 3 weeds within 5 mins just going about doing world quests on a new toon. Now imagine a group of 8 people or whatever the max is looted all of those.

How many god damn people were multiboxing?

I swear everyone and dog has been boxing lately

According to Glaivedancer, he was able to refund multiple copies.

Since multiboxing is not againts the TOS, but broadcasting is, YOU are the one that should get reported, for abusing the report system! Wich is bannable btw…

Thanks, Karen.

I am a new player, I am shocked that having more than one account logged in at the same is even allowed, I have never seen this allowed in any mmo before. I was at my quest location and there was a lot of the same characters walking in a 8 pattern spamming spells killing all the monsters necessary for my quest. I reported it. I don’t care if he was using a software for this or doing some crazy hardware setup. In the end it is someone clearly not playing as intended, breaking the game for others. If multiboxing was something you are supposed to do there would be a system for it made by blizzard.

So good one Blizzard, this will not end this multiboxing in an instant, but will definetly help. Gives me hopes that the devs are caring about players

Expect even after they made announced the change to make software that repeats command to other clients as a bannable offense, they clearly stated that mutliboxing is NOT AGAINST the rules. The reason you can have more than one client upon at a time would seem to indicate that this to be true. Otherwise they would have closed that feature 15 years ago.

They went after the software because it was an easy way to completely automate game play.

Multiboxing and botting goes hand in hand as is. That’s why you see bots multibox because why have 1 character when you can have a lot of them farming. Profit. While multiboxing isn’t boting per say it’s a very fine line and blizzard is putting down some boundaries.

I never fail to be amazed at people who just can’t grasp simple economics.

Which method do you imagine makes Blizzard more money:

  • Player A pays $15 for a month of game time.
  • Player B pays $20 for a game token; Player A then ‘buys’ that token for 150 000 gold and redeems for a month of game time.

Then that’s the cost we’ll pay.

And non-boxers will earn the income from it.

Sounds great to me!

If multiboxing was something you weren’t supposed to do, Blizzard wouldn’t allow you to have up to 8 WoW licenses on your Battle.net account.

So explain to the class if multiboxing isn’t ‘playing as intended’, why does Blizzard allow that?

FYI, it’s allowed in virtually every MMO ever created.

I don’t know, like I said, I am a new player and this is very odd. I understand they say it is not against the rules but I feel sad that I may be at a disadvantage because I just want to play one character at a time. If I am supposed to be doing this kind of stuff to progress I think the end game might not be for me.

You don’t have to do it to progress. I have never mutliboxed and I blow thru the expansions just fine. It is just for people who enjoy a limited play style. It’s not like they are doing high tier content. They are farming low end stuff and gathering resources is all.

Like I said, I am a new player, I had no idea that Blizzard allowed 8 licenses per account. I imagined that they were creating fake emails and info to pay for another accounts which I think you can agree is not good. Now it makes some sense.

I am just glad to see multiboxers getting nerfed (although I would like a perma ban), so now our professions might finally worth something.

you just did it blizzard ill take my 15x5 a month and go find some other then blizzard to spend it on. so what going to to stop some from moding 5 computers together off the the same keyboard/keypad and mouse and going to town. if you ban one you have to ban it all to be fair software/hardware at the end of the day it all the same
