I would disagree, because ironically the only time I actively multiboxed was in Classic and TBC.
THANK YOU BLIZZARD. Finally a change we need!
Incorrect. It was easy enough for me, like farming bones for spirits of harmony, to alt tab between 3 clients on the same box and save a lot of time. I never used multiple clients with software that cloned keystrokes at the same time.
Itâs obviously cheating and kind of hypocritical for blizz to do it now.
Some are, but have you seen the ones that out there in Nazmir farming mobs that have a fast respawn? Those are the people who are multi boxing while automating their characters. This change will help remove those. This is big change that will go a long way. Just gotta give it time.
They will get rid of a ton of botters as well with this move, since the overlap between boxers and botters is huge.
As somebody who knows almost nothing about any of this, let me ask you a question to see if Iâm understanding you correctly.
Are you saying that:
- This will NOT hurt the 5-moonkin groups standing in 1 spot killing trolls all day long, butâŚ
- WILL hurt the guy running around with 20 linked Shamans Frost Shocking people.
Is that correct?
Hereâs what they should have done in my honest opinion:
- Make gathering nodes loot-able once before de-spawning.
- Make mobs drop loot for the first person to tag them (up to 5 maybe to incentivize people helping you kill things in the open world, but everyone gets loot from things like epic worldbosses), round robin if youâre in a group or raid instance, and roll on uncommon+ drops if grouped/instanced.
- Add a cap for simultaneous logins. Maybe 5 so people can challenge themselves running dungeons.
There are people that outright abuse the system; like the DK shammy 20 box team that locks down New Home and the 10 boxers that tap a single mining or herb node.
Something else should have been done. Cripple WPVP more, change the way nodes work, and change how much loot drops off things. Multi-boxing adds another layer to enjoy the game and more revenue for the company.
Change the things mentioned above that make multi-boxing cripple the game economy and grief players.
Make it a bannable offense to attack players, even if the multi-boxer is defending themselves, while having warmode on, or somehow not allowing them to activate warmode in the first place while multiboxing.
So many people multibox for enjoyment and collecting in game items more efficiently, rather than to grief people and crash the economy. I read somewhere in this thread that Blizzard just dropped a sledge hammer on Multi-boxing when they should have used a scalpel. I 100% agree.
Iâm hoping this rash decision was just made because it was the easiest thing to do in preparation for Shadowlands, and a more comprehensive change of game mechanics will be implemented later to allow limited multi-boxing to take place in the near future.
At least they said it now so the two boxers in my guild can get refunds on the expansions they purchased for their slave accounts.
No, it wonât. Automation is automation.
YES! finally good news! see you in hell I MEAN torghast multiboxers! got hope of wow economy, bye bye gold cheaters
Hopefully this helps not to ruin the gaming experience too much, I like your news even though I donât see anything about what they are going to do in the future.
@Erikaveil, Youâre either confused by whatâs actually being hammered down, or youâre trying to be oppositional to the change.
If your circumstance is true, then it wouldnât affect you unless for whatever weird reason you were trying to go through missions with 2 healers, which doesnât make any sense. You can still multibox level your healer by having your healer on follow, while you control a DPS class/spec, which would suit you infinately better than multiple healers using MB software broadcasting.
Or just do the normal thing and DPS spec while questing.
You are not being negatively affected by this change at all.
I donât see why you would be happy for a band-aid on a gushing wound. Is it better than nothing? By some metric, I guess.
Off the top of my head, I can think of two ways around this non-issue of broadcasting software being banned. If I can think of two simple ones, people who actually multibox or bot can think of the same things or better.
Also, man, no one ever recognizes that clip anymore.
This is what I used it for as well (I have only two accounts, and on the toons I multiboxed I didnât even have professions). But, honestly, for this use? You probably wonât even be noticed, especially if the toons arenât the same class (and so arenât obviously casting spells in tandem).
Kind of a pointless argument since itâs still blatantly cheating, you can get hung up on the details because you have no defense all you want.
Wooooooah! Blizzard, I canât thank you enough for this.
This is a good step. Now break the raider.io bs and we will be getting places.
i mean⌠you are vulpera afterall⌠im joking! dont start 5th war already
nope, weâll still love it because multiboxers wonât be dictating any realmâs entire economy.
Not comparable and never will be removed, good try though.
