While I personally can see the fun of Remix Pandaria, I get how you feel.
What I personally don’t like is the rewards tied to retail WoW.
I’ve been consistent about this with Plunderstorm too.
If its something can be done very quick like playing a few matches or for an hour at most, then I’m ok with it. But that’s not the case.
Especially when its “time-limited” creating massive FOMO.
Really don’t like this practice and hope it doesn’t become the norm.
This one is good. You keep the character after the fact from what I’ve heard, and that can potentially include the no-longer-available Legendary cloak mog. Not sure on that one 100% but maybe
Blasting this, this is the crux of the actual problem for me. Well stated, really crucial. Everything else drowns out this issue, which should be addressed.
Miss the days of Blue posts (instead of them posting on Era alts)
What is wrong with the rewards being tied to retail WoW? This content for retail Wow, I read a poster comparing this to seasons in Diablo and that felt pretty spot on. You create a character for Remix, do content gaining rewards and that character plus the rewards move off of the Remix sever to your main server at the end. The rewards are not tied to player power just cosmetics.
I also don’t have a fear of missing out, so I do not understand the view point of those that do fear missing out on optional things.
Aren’t we in the development phase where the game usually just undergoes a massive content drought? I could be mistaken, but I know for other MMOs post-expansion “content” is usually one or two holiday events with a recolored pet/mount and not much else.
We had the FF16 crossover event in FF14, and the rewards for that were really great. But you finish it up in the space of an hour, so there’s nothing to really keep you subbed after. I know Plunderstorm isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but it was kind of nice to have a laidback mini-game that I could farm while I watched things on the side.
MOP Remix looks pretty fun, and the rewards are already incredible (I NEED that chicken pack). Again, I could be wrong, but I feel like in terms of time investment and having rewards to farm for that won’t be invalidated the moment the expansion drops, we’re getting way more in the post-DF patch cycle than in previous expansions.
Honestly it was the golden era of WoW! I could go on for ages about why I loved it. The cinematics, the raids, the buildup were all top notch. SoO remains one of my favorite raids in any MMO to this day.
There were a lot of different story lines going in MOP, and overall, it felt like there was a lot of new material. The Mantid and Mogu were great, imo. I even liked the August Celestials and the different Sha. I can’t wait to see them all again.
I really enjoyed the raids and the Timeless Isle. I still remember going FFA on the TI and slinking around as that ‘traitorous, dirty feral druid’ and collecting coins for mushan mount. Do people remember getting the ashes that severely reduced healing for a few seconds so that you could kill Blood DKs and disc priests like they were nothing? It was good times.
It’s the end of an expansion. Better to get these “gimmicks” than to go six months to a year of nothing like in the past. And personally, I think the MOP Remix looks awesome. I’m already trying to figure out which character to roll first when the event starts.
What did we get at the end of Cata? Oh yeah, a year of Dragon Soul.
What did we get at the end of MOP? Oh yeah… a year of… shudders SoO.
WOD? Eight months of HFC.
SLs was the first time they tried to do something new for the end of an expansion with the Fated Raids. Now they’re adding things like Plunderstorm and WOW Remix along side the Fated (now called Awakened) Raids.
Either way, I’m happy about the events they’re showcasing. Plunderstorm was good, I enjoyed it, but I’m especially looking forward to the MoP stuff. MoP was a great experience and I am excited to see how the new game mode feels.
Did your heart break a little when the (main) Vale of Eternal Blossoms got sacked by N’Zoth? 'Cause mine did. I had my hearthstone set in the Vale until Legion.
10.2.6 and 10.2.7 are World of Warcraft patches, so it’s not a disguise just the truth. 10.2.6 has all the Season 4 content, it just isn’t enabled yet (less than two weeks though). 10.2.7 is bringing the Harbinger quests, Troll and Draenei heritage armor, and a new holiday event along with Timerunning: Pandamonium (look at the roadmap).
