As a player who doesn’t even play shaman, it’s pretty disheartening to see one of my favorite theme’d classes suffering every xpac. I understand turbo is always a good comp, but I feel like a small to moderate rework to allow them to become more versatile between comps would be really awesome for our totemic elemental warriors.
Some mechanics shared with classes are okay, but I really hope if they ever do consider this rework that they pay close attention to give enhance some nice niches that actually fit the class and not copy paste direct mechanics from other classes.
(one thing could be turning heroism inside arenas into rogues tricks of the trade. Enhance is buffy, let them buff other dps by 15 to 20% and I guarantee we will see enhance in just about any comp)
Enhance dont wanna play with anything but turbo anyway. Why settle for some other second rate melee class when u got big boi warr with huge ms and spears.
You think they wanna play beastcleave or smthing or god forbid with a filthy wizard or sumfin weird like that

It’s unfortunate how much people underestimate enhance ww and enhance demo. These comps felt way harder to fight than turbo
Offensively enhance is smoothe and fun to play and it does really good damage. Doesn’t need a rework.
Defensively it isn’t bad but it’s defensive skill floor is too high for most of the player base so maybe it could use a rework in how it plays defensively
Maybe now that shuffle is one of the main parts of the game give them mortal strike so comps like enhance fire mage aren’t auto losses
You’re right, frost dks are fine and they should just get better at the game. Clearly a learn to play issue and the stats do not reflect anything meaningful.
Saul seems to disagree with this. He says its really unfun that enhance only does satisfying damage when the enemy team has pets or multiple targets to hit to funnel converging storms and if there is only 1 target, then the damage isnt good enough. He is also consistently 50-60% of the enemy players damage if there arent multiple targets to hit constantly. He says he has been messaging blizz to get them to change converging storms and buff windfury instead.
Yeah but a rework? Like on the scale of ret? Nah. They’re one solid tool or defensive away from being an absolutely incredible spec. They’re also currently super fun to play as either phys or elementalist and have some really interesting synergies with their kit.

my more nuanced opinion of what enhancement shaman needs (not a rework) aligns with exactly that, and here it is posted on the shaman forums a couple weeks ago or something

to this i agree to some extent
shaman has a lot of utility that has a high skillfloor and a moderate skillcap
the skillfloor is the reason you see a majority of the complaints though they aren’t without merit
most other melee specs are passively more durable or have to do significantly less to enable themselves (arms dh unh primarily)
i do not think we need a rework of ANY kind
i DO think the defensive utility is VERY strong and most of the people not succeeding right now aren’t stuck solely because of balance but more because of mechanical gameplay
but i do think some form of minor mitigation would not push enhancement over the top and would not only bring the skillfloor down to a friendly level but it would provide an actually needed boost to the skillcap where enhancement is still fairly underwhelming
You should really make a standalone thread with these observations/suggestions so blizzard can see it properly. Doomwinds pvp talent and some form of mitigation are critical imo.
PvE shamans are saying the physical build needs a buff to compete with the elemental build and have also been calling for a buff to doomwinds.
So maybe doomwinds could go to 60 seconds and WF could be buffed baseline and it would be a win/win for PvE and PvP.
p.s. I miss 5 stack spending/10 stack banking. Would love to see overflowing MSW changed into a choice node that alternatively buffs MSW casts rather than increasing stack spending so that 5 stack casting becomes competitive again.
literally 7 days ago there was an evoker turbo that made top 10~ in EU
but they only streamed top 10 for cup 4 exclusively so it doesn’t really count ig
liquid played hpriest turbo a bunch with samiyam enh in the late SL cup when tier came out
luminosity also played a couple games of it into golden guardians with wealthyman enh
enhancement up until recently actually has had some of the highest blizzcon representation of all specs all time
wrath had beastcleave games
wod had rdruid turbos do very well
early legion had cdew playing snutz/smex demo/enh
early bfa had a ton of enhancements (jaime even played enh/frost mage)
enh is def good. it just feels terrible in solo shuffle into a lot of lobbies. in some lobbies i can go 6-0 and then i get into a all-caster lobby and then im just screwed. assa rogues are also terrible to go against. and lots of other things that just feel over tuned playing as enh.
i think legion enhancement having lust/doomwinds both off global and on a 1 minute cd made it easier for us to play with more set-up type specs like demo/hunter/rogue but i don’t see warrior not just being better than all of those for us until rdruid doesn’t exist and playing to win is rewarded more than playing to not lose

but aassa lobbies also feel great because u auto win 2 with the rogue on your team and offensively the rogue takes so much damage from enhance
