Please rethink the soar nerf

It being nerfed wasn’t part of the point of discussion.

And… reading comprehension.

Played, past tense. And for the record. The amount of people who played DH compared to other new classes such as monk was GIANT.

thats not true. the race has two specs, one damage, one healing. not sure how you missed that tiny detail.

and yes, there is a real possiblity that if you make a super race, then people will flock to it. thats why it needed to be cut down. You just can’t make a race that is so overwhlmingly better than anything else in the game. Blizz made the right decision.

Call me crazy, but I get the feeling more people will play Evoker because it’s a new race/class, and it’s probably going to be overtuned compared to everything else.
I don’t think the flying racial that is slower than actual Dragon Riding, requires you to already be at an appreciably high vantage, to manage your momentum throughout, and with a 5 minute CD that only starts once you’ve cancelled it by landing is going to be that much of an attraction.

You are in a thread about the soar nerf, my dude. Double jump and glide did not need a nerf for a normal new class hype → normal population trajectory to happen, and neither does soar. Didn’t think I needed to spell this out.

Not replying to the rest of your comment because the response is exactly the same. Stuff was fine, people liking DHs when they came out does not support a Soar nerf.

Sir I don’t know how to tell you this but classes can have multiple specs. Most actually have more than two, believe it or not.

I wasn’t talking about soar. I was talking about double jump and glide. It not being nerfed has nothing to do with the conversation or outcome. It wasn’t nerfed because it wasn’t over powered. Soar was nerfed because it was.

Convenient you ignore the rest of my comment as the rest of my comment refutes the entire point you’ve just made. But you basically conceded the point so that’s fine.

You argued people wouldn’t choose a class based on it’s inherent abilities such as soar/double jump/glide. They do. That was my point and it still stands unchallenged as the facts support it.

Soar needed to be nerfed. Blizzard agrees. It’s nerfed and you’re going to deal with it, tears and all. It’s entirely possible that the over the top crying may pressure them to change their minds. If that happens, so be it. I wouldn’t prefer that but I won’t cry about it like players here. And I plan on maining Preservation Evoker as that’s what I’m having fun with on the Alpha. What remains a fact is that if soar was introduced at 640% speed in the first place, people would have loved it for what it was. They wouldn’t be threatening to unsub because it wasn’t fast enough. It’s just entitled players being entitled.

Yeah, can’t have people pet battling or doing quests in a mode of play they won’t have access to until the next expansion too fast, or getting to old dungeons to farm stereotypically bad mail transmogs.
Definitely overpowered.
Uh-huh.

That argument has been beat to death. You comparing it in a vacuum, while others are comparing it to far less exciting / powerful racials. Nerfed or not it’s not a big deal to me. I’m going to enjoy maining it either way.

I mean, yeah, because it’s the one Blizzard offered.
Just because it’s really really dumb doesn’t change that.

All the arguments for soar can be applied to slime cat…

So… What did they say about that?

Deal with it? Dont make things too easy? Challenge builds character yadda yadda.

Also this type of short sightedness is why players make terrible designers. Not to mention there’s zero evidence that this won’t happen as soon as 10.1.

Expand Dragon Riding to the rest of the world and there goes your argument, lol.

You’re right! And when they do that I don’t care if soar goes back to 930% speed. They can even buff the speed back AND remove the cooldown. I’m glad you’ve finally picked up on the point.

Thanks, but I knew that already.

Good. Glad we agree that it needs the nerf until Dragon Riding goes Azeroth wide.

I think the rot’s got to your brain. So much for all that reading comprehension, rip.

I was wondering when giving up on the debate and falling to petty insults would come. You made it further than I thought you would, but not as far as I’d hoped.

Yea. Lame excuse that one of the main reasons they nerfed it was because of doing pet battles too fast. Doesnt matter how fast you get to them, you still have to spend time doing them and getting there fast just means you will have to do the same exact pet battle and take the same amount of time. And in most places the pets are right next to one another in clusters so you can end one and then click on a pet right next to you. And if they meant pet battlemasrs, then there are flight paths to most of them anyways and it doesn’t matter how fast you can get to them.

And yes this is more proof of my theory that Blizzard goes by /played metrics and not by subs for private investors. Josh Strife Hayes even does a video about how more and more MMOs are doing that and that is why so many things have become such a pointless grind. They actually have an algorithm that they run just to see if they are successful at forcing people to do a grind and play the way they want you to play, not the way you want to play.

Remember the days when games were made by actual gamers? Hardly that way anymore. Or back when actors actually cared about their movies. Now days they majority of actors havent even seen the movies they star in, the majority of game devs dont play the games they make. Yea there’s no care at all anymore. Almost none of the developers play the game. One or two do and that’s it.

As this conversation has already left civil discourse, I’m out. Have a good night. I won’t reply again but feel free to get the last word. I know your type can’t live not having it so go for it and make yourself feel better.

Edit: Called it.

Look, after pondering about this, I think I know what the deal is.

They’re unlocking other classes for Dracthyr in a near future, and they don’t want us to level our Dracthyr super fast with Soar.

Still, it’s on a freaking 5 min cooldown, Blizz. Can you please remove the cooldown at least?
