I play on Dream, and so far I have only seen one player with a filled TRP profile. Roleplayers are so diluted that spontaneous RP is pretty much non-existent.
Please give us a home!
I was against this ,
But I have changed my mind and would even roll on a RP server to see what the hoopla is about.
Itâs not really all that different than a normal server, itâs just that the rules prioritize immersion and a deeper layer of gameplay.
There are some that go all out and live in character all the time in the world but itâs mostly about people who take the lore more seriously and donât like to see their chat spammed with trolling and crummy attempts at off-topic humor by people with meme names.
People tend to speak in complete sentences, use emotes, and macros for interaction.
Really itâs just all about having a deeper immersion in the world and everyone agreeing to work together to maintain the suspension of disbelief in ways that you wouldnât see on other server types.
Exactly. The âRPPvPâ label is just a coordination mechanism.
Blizzard doesnât do anything drastic to the realm. Back in actual vanilla WoW the realms had naming policies, which also helped.
But even if Blizzard wonât do that now, it doesnât really matter, because the coordination mechanism of the realm category alone is enough to drive all the players who name their characters with immersive fantasy names to that realm, which makes it more immersive.
The RP community handles the rest (events, in-character world PvP raids, etc.).
Blizzard, Iâm level 30 and Iâd still reroll. Give us RPers a cozy server <3
Itâs worth noting that a lot of roleplayers who are only interested in Classic on an RP-PvP server likely do not have subscriptions right now, and thus are unable to comment here to voice their support.
Please give us a roleplaying realm, there are still plenty of players who would greatly appreciate it!
I donât know how well-enforced it was, if at all, but on Bloodsail in 2019 you could report people for Non-RP name.
Same for Grobbulus.
You could report non-RP names and guild names and they would get changed.
If we do get a server I hope they keep that rule.
Theyâre very clearly using the collapse of the RP community on SoD as an excuse not to support the RP community further.
Theyâre blaming us for their mishandling of SoD.
They knew in advance that all the streamers were taking over Crusader Strike.
They even jokiningly named the server âStreamer Serverâ prior to launch.
They released CB late and then killed it for being âlow populationâ despite it having two layers which puts it at the 2-3x the population of the OG vanilla WOW servers.
Aggrend used the fact people transferred right away as justification for his decision.
People transferred immediately because there was zero communication from Blizzard.
They just locked the server and opened transfers. They knew what the outcome was going to be. People panicking and transferring thinking the server was going to be deleted.
Aggrend and the Classic teamâs mishandling of the RP community during SoD is so eggregious that I believe they intentionally tried to kill off the RP community.
The lack of any RP server let alone an RPPVP server in Classic 2: The Re-Classification seems to lend credibility to this idea.
That statement during the release about how a megaserver is "the best way to enjoy WoWâ is pretty telling as well. Instant groups and anonymity in a social game that survived based on social cohesion.
Blizzard should throw us a bone and open up a single RPPVP server.
Itâs been a week.
Thereâs a ton of the RP community that just didnât play on this version.
Iâve not ever played SoD at all so I had no idea about any of this, but I suppose itâs whatâs informing their decisions for right now and thatâs just sad.
I donât know what would draw streamers to an RP server in the first place unless they specialize in RP, which Iâm not sure many of them do. Iâve never seen that one does anyway.
They(the streamers) wanted to farm the RP community for content but they instead frushed the RP community under the sheer weight of their non-RPing communities.
A lot of people just didnât roll on CS because of that.
Others like me went to CB the moment it came up.
That sounds like it didnât go well. What do you mean by farm the RP community with content?
What happened with SoD was that they didnt release realm names, so when streamers and big guilds were trying to organize what PvP server to roll on beforehand⊠they couldnât. Thus, they decided to pick the only RP-PvP server because it was a single option and they didnt need to know the name to coordinate.
So many people trying to rush the one server locked it, and it also turned off a lot of people from wanting to go there in the first place. Blizzard then opened a second RP-PvP server hours later, but by then a number of RP guilds had gotten in together and formed up, people got their preferred names and didnt want to risk rerolling and losing them. So RP guilds, and the community in whole, was split between the two realms.
And there was also a RP-PvE realm which split the RP community too. All in all, it was just really badly handled with Blizzard not preparing for the SoD launch excitement and not revealing names beforehand to let people coordinate.
It means nothing, weird thing to say.
and one without dual spec. and if it MUST be in the game let it only be activated from your class trainer.
replace with with the word for.
Iâm not quite sure how these two concepts relate to one another, from what Iâve seen roleplayers generally donât tend to be against changes to the game.
If this realm was given separate mechanics to the others, a good number of players would swap to it purely due to such changes. From what Iâve seen of the rest of the forums, I canât help but worry that this might result in a somewhat more hostile environment. Additionally, such a change would make the realm more time-consuming for Blizzard to maintain.
In my opinion, itâs best to keep these two topics separate from one another.
Hey guys, three RP realms didnât work, so lets do zero this time! Thatâs the answer!
It really is baffling. Particularly when you consider that there are two North American PvE realms but only one PvP realm.
No reason to not create a second PvP realm and make it RPPvP.
