To be fair Blizzard has always treated RPers like an afterthought, but this is pretty insulting.
RPPVP server is not needed - it will just break the population. Just RP on the regular servers if you want to RP no one cares if you RP - but its not worth trashing the populations like they have already seen in the past, this is why they are not doing it nowā¦ its called learning from your mistakes
Well you are about to feel a bit more insulted.
I really donāt post on the forums, but Iām coming out of the woodwork to support this post and everyone passionately explaining why RP in World of Warcraft should be supported.
Iāve mostly stayed on RP servers. but hearing the reasoning behind rppvp, Iām willing to re-roll if you make one.
Same here.
I reserved my names on Dreamscythe but Iām holdling off on really getting into leveling on the hope that theyāll open an RP server.
If itās only RP-PvP then Iāll stay put because I donāt like PvP, but I"m hoping for a normal RP to accompany theoretical RP-PvP.
Blizz dev1: āWhat does RPG stand for again?ā
Blizz dev2: āIdk lolā
They forgot that long, long ago.
Most of the current devs are into raiding above all else. They have forgotten what makes players like us tick.
My God grow some thicker skin
And now Tom Ellis is bragging on Twitter about have 50 servers worth of people on 1 server. Slap to the face.
Stands for ābetter off playing baldurs gate or dragon ageā
From Tom Ellis on Twitter:
50 OG launch wow realms worth of players in three fresh realms. Noice. China has a realm where all 50 are in a single realm, theyāve going Hardcore into Hardcore.
Tom is so very hip and relevantā¦ āOGā āNoiceā! His sentence structure also meets the new standard for professionalism in our world. We should also strive to get that China thing going for sure. megaservers! yay!
He needs a promotion!
We do after all live in a warped version of that movie with Luke Wilson and the Plants watered with Gatorade.
Megaservers are just a complicated way of making the classic experience just like retail. It is not the same experience. I was considering just doing the PvP thing, but this realization has caused me to end my subscription.
Naming it Ibelin or Redmoore (his characterās last name) would be amazing Iām still holding on to my last huff of hopium. Probably should switch to copium soon thoughā¦
I think it would probably be named somewhere in the realm of āSkibidi Toiletā as a last act of defiance.
Is it not feasible to make a server with scaled down resources and a lower population cap for this community? Iād be willing to sit in a queue to RP-PvP while the āFullā PvP server has no queue if it meant I got to engage with other RP-PvPers
I really hope that Blizzardās idea of a successful RP server isnāt one with the scale of these other realms. Even if we could somehow find that sort of playerbase, it would only hurt the community; weād be better off with as few layers as possible and a consistent core of known guilds, even if this meant that it might be a little bit harder to find a group for dungeons and such. A realm with a more traditional player cap would only help the community, and Iām pretty sure roleplayers would 100% be fine with a few queues if it let them play on such a realm. The potential of queues may also encourage PvPers with no interest in the RP aspect to roll on the PvP megaserver.
Thatās a good idea. When it comes to RP itās about quality, not quantity.
Thatās what the āThE sErVeRs WiLl bE dEaD iN a WeEkā crowd doesnāt get. As long as all the people on an RP realm are committed to RP, it doesnāt matter if it has only half the population of a normal realm, it will be seen as a success by the RP community.
This is a fantastic idea.
To the other poster, instead of making a second post:
Learning from your mistakes requires recognizing you made them. Blizzards mistake with SoD was releasing ānamelessā servers with two PVP and one RP-PVP which was the driving force for the streamers rolling on the RP-PVP one, flooding it. While a second RP-PVP server was created (because of queues) the population was split at that point and that server was essentially āshut downā when it still had like a 6k pop which is more than most Classic 2019 servers had pre-TBCC.
Iāve never once seen Blizzard admit any fault to this.
#1 This doesnāt work and many people have explained why. Tom Ellis has said the same, there is a lack of desire to care about a certain section of the player base which is unprofessional.
#2 If people donāt play at all because they arenāt going to get the experience they want, they arenāt adding to the population.
Icing on the Cake: Iām dorking on the PvP server til the sub dies, but Iāve already seen many OCE players and guild recruitment.
So much for their own server
Iām enjoying the PvP server but general chat is awful sure would be nice to be on an RP-PvP server with mature adults.
