Hey! my goal is not to stop them out, just to create a place where the RP-PvP community can do our events and communicate.
As far as an RP-PvP server, I have a pretty good grip on the mentality of blizzard this time around, and they are going to try and do as few servers as possible, even at the risk of queues, to maintain players. When servers die and they open up FCM’s, they lose a significant chunk of players. I saw the writing on the wall with CS and CB, and it was a tragedy what happened there.
I highly expect that they will not open up any more servers. And the closer we get to launch, the bigger of a mistake it would be to open them. Especially since names have been announced. People are making plans, making discords, getting settled in. If they were to open up another server, the last chance they had was really today. if it comes out later, sadly, its going to “die”. and i don’t mean die in the term that nobody will play on it, i mean in the sense that it will be low-pop. And people will complain, and they will take it out back and shoot it, like they did chaos bolt.
On Grobbulus, our RP server became a normal PvP server because of transfers, and just the mentality of the playerbase. So us in the Rp crowd had to make our own community. On Crusader Strike SoM, we made our own RP crowd. We can do the same thing on Fengus PvP. But people in the RP crowd should embrace the mega server, if thats what blizzard gives us. There’s no reason to gate yourself from playing fresh, just because blizzard didnt give you an RP tag on your server.
So if you want to make the most out of the situation, join my discord, and lets have some fun on Fengus PvP! /MdHp6PMYke
The argument of “you can organise RP on any server” only makes sense if you never did RP in world of warcraft.
Yes, there are a bunch of guilds and communities that create RP events, but the best part of wow RP is spontaneous. Walking up to someone, having a random interaction is priceless. It’s already been gutted with the layering. If there’s no dedicated RP server, it’s gonna be impossible to stumble into anyone within the 10+ layers of minmaxers.
I still think that enough communities would be able to change their plans in time if it’s announced tomorrow. The RP community would have a much better time on our own realm than trying to carve out a place in Ferocity; it’s really important that folks don’t give up yet.
Given that Blizz only announced a server multiple times a week before they would go live, I’m really not understanding this sort of weight being placed on something being too soon or too late. I think that even if they launch an RPPVP server after the initial three, it wouldn’t be that large of a deal. Ideally they would launch it with everything else, but time before release seems to not be a pressing issue.
Yeah that’s what i’s saying too. Don’t give up hope that they will make an Rp server. But also, don’t give up hope if they DONT. You can still have RP on a pvp server. What made Grobbulus great wasn’t the RP tag in our name, it was the people of the server, and importantly, the passionate leaders that held those events, and made those Rp guilds. Grobbulus was carried on the back of Okwaho and others, and it takes passionate people like that to make things happen.
