It is really interesting that an official account apparently accidentally posted about RP realms to warrant that correction… it could either be a mistake of just the writer assuming that there would be one, or maybe a mistake of them letting us know too early?

The thing that is so wonderful about RP Servers, those who aren’t familiar with it are welcomed with open arms from the community. It would be a shame to not have the 20th anniversary include this style of server. Grobbulus was such a massive community, but it felt way more personable than normal pve/pvp servers. Until you have experienced playing on a RPPVP whether you are big into RP or not, there is truly nothing like it.

The developers, writers, storyboarders, environmental designers, creature/boss/npc designers, the encounter specialists, fantasy artists, spell designers… I could go on and on about how much absolute work went into creating the lore and World of Warcraft.
Roleplayers appreciate every aspect of that hard work. It isn’t just another quest or zone, it’s another place to unearth the secrets, appreciate the statues, towns, ruins, and every little easter egg they tucked away so carefully.
It is a community that cherishes the hard work put in.

Really hoping they announce a RPPvP server, before launch, - if they’re going to do it.
It’s gonna suck to begrudgingly level a character only to have to abandon him and level a new one, when they inevitably launch an RPPvP server.

It needs to be included with the list of available servers on launch to get the momentum it needs. Just like Grobbulus. Otherwise its got like, 2 hours max post-launch before the whole idea is toast.

I guarantee that the people being super loud in that discord are just a very vocal minority and once we actually play most people will be normal pilled. It is crazy though yea, imagine someone thinking about trying fresh for the first time seeing that crap? I know for sure I wouldn’t be playing.

It sounds like, due to things like guild organization, even two hours would be risky. I really hope that they give us a flat yes or no soon, seeing as the post which we got is still pretty ambiguous thanks to the reference which it makes. We were concerned about the risk of streamers coordinating to flood an RP server earlier on, but imo we’re close enough to launch by this point that it’s pretty safe to assume that they’ll be settling on the PvP server.

I totally agree, 2 hours was me being very optimistic.
Though, I do feel like the big streamers will be evenly split between the HC server and the regular ol’ PvP server. I truly believe they were just too dumb to say “lets organize on the first PvP server in alphabetical order” in SoD and chose the one RPPVP server that existed in order to form the largest presence they could. The least cynical part of me doubts that the streamers would intentionally switch to the RPPvP realm just to dunk on our community
The circumstances with this launch is much different. They (the streamers) seem to have their plans set. Shouldn’t present an issue like it did in SoD.
