It’s certainly not ideal, but if it launches at the same time as every other server, then you don’t get an RP PVP server anyway. It just becomes the streamer server, 100%, without a doubt.
Grobbulus turned out just fine.
Not if they only have one PvP server choice. The issue is when they have two to choose and don’t know the server names beforehand.
Plus, streamers are going to be focused on the HC server anyways.
Yes but that launched with a ton of other servers. Which is one of the solutions here.
Both options definitely have their own risks; I wasn’t around for the Season of Discovery situation and thus can’t really comment on which one would be preferable. I’m guessing that a realm launched at day one would result in a populated community which would include a good few people who just wanted to play on the “smaller PvP realm”, while a delayed launch would leave the realm more likely to be RP-focused and yet also make it much more likely to be desolate population-wise.
Either way, there’s no way to guarantee what would happen if a 3rd realm was added; I ultimately just hope that Blizzard gives RP-PvP some form of a chance.
Please give us a RPPVP server again!
No need, only need 1 pvp server.
These servers gonna die off fast.
You should have seen the forums when they announced initial Classic.
About the same negativity of believing Classic servers wouldn’t make it. But here we are!
I mean there is for sure going to be hype but servers end up dying.
In this case less is actually more.
Which is exactly what they’re doing, which I believe is a safe play to test the Fresh Waters.
Original Classic had 27 US Realms released at launch (had to look it up).
I think we’ll be just fine!
honestly I understand the concerns about having one but given that rppvp had a pretty dedicated fanbase I don’t see the issue with it. it was way more dedicated than the actual rp server in classic so eh go for it
better to release it at launch as well because it will probably not get the same traction post-launch
Deviate Delight is a sad testament to this.
I mean Grobb was just non rp players looking for a balanced server.
What’s the difference
At this point it clearly shows you have never been within the Grobb community. It had plenty of both.
Non-RPers have a purpose on RPPVP if you’ve read above.
If RPPVP is not your cup of tea, thats plenty fine. An RPPVP Anniversary Realm existing does not affect you.
As much as I loved playing on Grobbulus in '19, it’s clear that was lightning in a bottle. Especially when streamers joined Crusader Strike because of Grobb’s reputation as an interesting server community which ironically ensured nothing like that would come about due to their presence, and nothing will prevent this from happening again.
Deviate Delight also proved the tenaciousness of RP-PvP. People decided nearly out of the blue that they were just hungry for it and literally RP’d phases.
There were some folks who broke from it sure but the overwhelming majority of players there just…. RP’d that they couldn’t go into BWL or AQ for months and months. That’s bananas.
I mean it has a lot to do with all of us.
More servers means more people are spread out when servers start to dwindle in population.
I understand the route blizzard is going and it makes sense long term.
You may not like it but I guess you can’t make everyone happy.
I don’t forsee the servers suffering, especially right now when everyone is looking to stay inside from the cold + take their mind off current events.
RPPVPers exist, they will make their voices known. Just like before, and the time before that.
It’s up to Blizzard to crunch their numbers and handle supply and demand.
These servers just allow for people to be able to have fun and explore Azeroth in their own way and form community, there’s no downside and it should work this time now that streamers aren’t going to be pretty much all landing here
