My wife met her boyfriend on wow.
The RP communties ended up focusing pretty fast on set realms. MG/WrA in NA and Argent Dawn in EU.
But Emerald Dream had a good rpPvP server. And over in EU Defias Brotherhood had a solid RP community as well.
I guess it just mattered that you made it to the right realm.
All those RP realms are still the place to go, with TotalRolePlay 3 addon installed to really get a good feel for the RP vibes.
All the RpPvP servers have zero roleplay these days… probably because warmode kinda’ turned every realm into a “normal” server. So all the RP players left to join the big communities.

To add: I am sure there will be people that want to RP on the new PvE classic classic classic cla… realm.
And the best way to find your tribe, if RP is you thing, is to make sure you have TRP3 addon installed, and then when you hover over people, you will be able to see who else is rocking that addon!

If there is only one it will become the defacto streamer realm.
Only way it works if you either announce it at launch or launch it one day after the pvp/pve/hc servers get released.

RP-PVP is really the perfect world type of server. You have people engaging in PVE, people who PVP but usually nowhere near the level of campers/griefers like on a “pure” PVP server, as well as RPers doing things and, nowadays, even organizing things like inter-faction skirmishes via discord or whatnot so PVP is planned as well as spontaneous.
The real shame is that they no longer enforce RP rules on RP servers, because that alone would be a huge reason to go there versus any other server; so you see names that make sense in a fantasy setting rather than names that look like a CoD handle.

Came to the forums specifically to voice my desire for an RPPvP realm and very happy to see this is one of the largest on-going threads!
There’s such a substantial, dedicated community here that shouldn’t be alienated from their preferred rule-set. Let us thrive in our own space, PLEASE!

Why would the rp realm be the streamer realm???
Happened in SoD last time.
Suppose a lot will depend on if we get names of servers before release but it may be different due to just getting one PvP one PvE and one HC realm.

you can’t expect blizzard to enforce RP at all times on RP realms 
lots of people break the rules, but plenty of people take the RP rules seriously.

Maybe you have never been in the major cities where RP guild are prepping for battle, Clan Battlehammer marching in formation on their way to a zone to fight for it.
Perhaps you have never walked by a major city tavern where guilds meetup, drink beer, and casually RP joke after clearing a raid.
If you never spent much time on either Emerald Dream in 2010 or Grobbulus in 2019 you would have missed this daily RP activity.
Behind almost all every character is a person and substance. I much prefers this over running into players wtih names like IWANTOFU on a PvP realm.

Happy Reminder: If you report a name with “NOT RP” in the text box, enough reports will flag them for rename if it is truly non-rp.
It works, just needs: More reports, and a truly non-rp name.
