That is definitely me.
Iâm both, no RP server sort of was Disheartening, but like nearly everyone I know we just reserved names and waiting for TBC.
Until then Hardcore for me is truely my RP Server, one life and everything matters (im lvl 53, praying to hit 60), so Iâm enjoying Hardcore until an RP server comes or TBC.
This was my plan on Dreamscythe lol I was convinced it would only be a day or two before they came out with an RP realm, so I just reserved my name just in case hardly expecting to be there long.
âŚand here we are now.
This is the worst part about it. Even if you wanted to use this fresh to try out a new RP server you canât. On established RP servers everyone is already entrenched in their communities and stories, but just like every other aspect of fresh, RP would start anew in a lot of ways and I was really hoping to be a part of that.
This is a great point. Fresh should have been an opportunity to try new thingsâa clean slate, a blank canvass. Megaservers donât really lend themselves to that, unfortunately. Theyâre like massive, brutalist apartment blocks that encourage everyone to be as normal and obedient as possible.
RP realms, by contrast, are living, breathing, wide open spaces that encourage players to have complete creative control over their indentity in an environment where they wonât be mocked for asserting it.

Still no blue post though
Happy New Year, by the way, to all of us Classic roleplayers. Hope everyone has found whatever it is theyâre looking for on/off Anniversary realms.
Blizzard, youâre preventing some of the players who are most interested in interacting with your world by not including an RP server. This is seriously the biggest thing holding me and several others from back from getting into WoW classic. I donât want to be vibing in the world, then suddenly see XxXMeDuckYourFaceXxX dancing in the middle of the plaguelands while screaming about âMe So Roarny! Me want that juicy abomination bootyâ. RP servers are just so much better for immersion, even if youâre not big on RP.
Yes, itâs not the most popular server type, and not everyone there RPs, but that absolutely doesnât mean you shouldnât have one up.
These are the players they cater to now, though, the types who just dash to max level and go running into the nearest raid instance with no regard for any other aspect of the game.
Why they chose to do this for Fresh is beyond me, as Classic lends itself to RP in ways that other versions of the game just donât.
seconded
if you are going to force us all onto regular servers at least clean up some of these awful names roaming about so that our experience is a bit better
came on forums today hoping to see an announcement of a new rp-pvp server with no layersâŚtotally disappointed
why would you ever in a million years expect that? anni servers are a month old. it aint happening
It isnât happening. Their silence has made company policy crystal clear. We arenât important.
This. They neither value us (make us a realm) nor respect us (address it with us).
Long as folks pay their subscription in some form or another, they donât care.
Precisely. They have a captive audience and they know it. Until they need us more than we need them, we get zug-zugged on.
I donât really like PvP, but I want an RP server. Just any at this point.
Heck, even an RP server with a warmode option letting us choose to be PVP or PVE layer. The RP server only needs 2 layers or less.
That is a fantastic idea. While I did not like Warmode in Retail, but for RP, it makes sense. People who roleplay will be dedicated in their choice of flag on or flag off.
I think its okay to not separate by pvp/pve layer, as if someone is getting shanked next to a PVEr, it doesnât effect their questing. This also allows Roleplayers to interact with each other without being separated, making new friends/communities.
If they refuse to give both RPPvE and RPPvP, this might make them consider for the future.
Iâm in the same boat. Iâm not crazy about being on a PvP serverâŚhonestly I donât know how anybody gets anything done on them, but if itâs the only option for RP then Iâd try it.
You can roleplay without being on a roleplay server. I do it all the time.
Half of the people (more than half, usually) who roll on RP/RP-PvP realmsâŚ
You guessed it: donât roleplay or follow roleplay rules such as character names.
