The game is a cash cow. The current leadership is milking the cow, and will milk it as long as they can. It takes no talent or love to milk this cow. Sure, the game will eventually die, but it may be a good while yet. They may be doing everything wrong RN, but still hundreds of thousands of people addicted and nostalgic will keep coming back. It’s almost like battered women’s syndrome.
Amazing. Dont even get a choice anymore. You will be a faceless mob on a megaserver and like it.
4 days…doesnt look promising
I hope that I see you all in whatever the next big MMO for RP is, and I hope that you all have a merry christmas.
And I hope we still get to moo at each other there.
Blizzard, I hope you get coal in your stockings… y’all know what you didn’t do…
I saw a video the other day saying that there’s at least 20k people raiding right now across all the Anniversary realms:
Now the pundit in the video seems to think that’s quite low but I don’t see why. I think it’s quite a good figure, if I’m being honest. Higher than I’d have guessed, anyway.
You’d think if there’s that many players who are max level and raiding, imagine what the total population would be. Must be massive, surely enough to fill up a server with 2-3k RP enthusiasts.
At first I thought the reason was that perhaps the realm pop totals weren’t quite up to snuff and they didn’t want to come out and admit that, hence the silence, but that can’t be if there’s already 20k raiders.
thats a good number considering not all people are 60 or raiding.
Has there been any effort to make a non-PVP RP server?
Because the fact that they’ve killed all the PvE RP servers in these new classic modes, has killed my desire to ever try them.
Meh they had RPPVP on SOD and barely anyone RP’d
Not only was there plenty of RP on Chaos Bolt, SoD was only one iteration of WoW and we had a plethora of RP on Grobbulus and Deviate Delight back in 2019. That’s no excuse to not make an RP server. Blizzard’s mishandling of a realm or gameplay content is not indicative of people’s desire to, or activity in, roleplay.
I think at this point, people are just shooting for any RP server. Whether it be RP-PVP or strictly RP-PvE, we just want a space that’s a good visual gathering spot for likeminded players and hopefully not overly crowded like the current servers.
I would consider SoM and SoD niche versions of WoW. Not only that, but if you search through the thread, the RPPVP server given in SoD was not only mishandled, but flooded by streamers (and one of them did it on purpose).
Grobbulus, the RPPVP server we had to fight for in 2019, was the healthiest, MANUALLY 50/50 PvP server there was.
There were so many amazing RP guilds, and WPvPRP guilds, it was a fantastic time. Now, if you also read, RP servers are not 100% active roleplayers. Many are light RPers, and many love the community, maturity, and atmosphere RP tags bring to the server, whether its PVP or not. Those people have a home, too.
this… it’s sad man can’t even give us ONE lil server. probably because it increases management costs by some marginal amount. the bean counters can’t have that
I see blizz still ignoring this huge thread
This thread turned to a plea for RP in general a long time ago, I think.
But no, sadly, there hasn’t been any movement in the direction of an RP realm of any kind.
The issue is, the longer they take to release a RP Server, if they ever do, is going to severely hinder the servers population.
Classic leveling is very tedious and time consuming as it is, a lot of players, unless they do transfers, aren’t going to be willing to do the grind again, especially if they are already in established guilds.
Personally Blizzard really dropped the ball on this one .
Transfers would destroy it though because then tons of non-RP’ers would use it as a lifeboat to get off of the megaservers.
I’m not concerned about the population issue or people in established guilds and such, the RP’ers would come and reroll. Even if that’s a small fraction of the overall population it would still be good enough for RP.
As has been said ad nauseum in this thread, it’s not the quantity of people that matters to RP’ers, it the quality of the RP and how much the players work together to create the living, dynamic world that an RP realm is supposed to present.
That and there are a ton of people who arent playing at all because no RP, and people who are in the TBC Waiting Room.
I’m in the waiting room for my paid time to expire and move on. My last two tickets Blizzard zug zugged all over me, and now this no server thing. I’m convinced that they spend an enormous amount of time trying to figure out how to mistreat us efficiently.
sub ends in 24 hours, almost level 30 on nightslayer…was hoping we’d get a server before then, guess not
