No. Community moderation isn’t a good thing. It’s a bad thing. Freedom of speech is far more important than censoring wrong think
Doesn’t exist on a private company’s discussion forums.
It’s good to know your rights and where they apply.
Good eye.
So which is it? Do we get to baselessly accuse others of sockpuppeting or not?
Are you a commie?
All that’s needed is equal enforcement of the rules. All of the rules are vaguely defined that if a mod wants to punish you, they can by simply calling it trolling. As a result, you can clearly see people who do nothing but character attacks be allowed to continue posting while criticisms against the message cant even have a hint of one or it will be taken down.
You seem to have an unrealistically high opinion of the intelligence of the average forum user.
Do be nice and tell us all what this discord is
You banning me? YOU banning ME?! Reported!
Conveniently glossing over the very words that you quote?

I blame the fact that so much of WoW’s forum moderation is done through a third party, and not even a third party of humans, it’s mostly automated.
it only takes once for people to learn not to do it a second time.
Tell me you don’t know people without telling me you don’t know people…
You do realize for a memory to form permanently most things have to be repeated three times, yes? That’s a psychological fact.
“Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I’m not sure about the universe. – Albert Einstein”
It only takes once for people not to do that specific thing because it is impossible not to do it deliberately. You have to go and switch to two other characters to purposely bury a post which is inconvenient as well.
You do realize for a memory to form permanently most things have to be repeated three times, yes? That’s a psychological fact.
your psychology is wrong about this.
Inconvenient or not it happens, you are also supposing that just because they do it they’ll get reported for it, which is not necessarily the case with how the current forums work.
your psychology is wrong about this.
It quite literally isn’t, you’re arguing against scientific evidence, which is basically your opinion against observed verified data.
do you even know what the discussion is about? there is no reporting involved because blizzard has their system set up to notice these things.
any way one of the CC members posted a long spiel from blizzard about how they catch people you can read it or remain in ignorance.
Do they though? Then why does it happen so often?
you have no way of knowing whether it happens or not
Exactly, and neither does anyone trying to report them, and the system currently relies on people reporting a post multiple times to take action, and when it does it is still largely automated, you can “appeal” the automated punishment, but it is still largely automated and NOT run by actual mods for most issues.
The problem with current moderation, is that it is run by third party AIs, same as many of the more basic functions of the forums like likes. This is one of the reasons why these new forums have so many limits.
omg - tell me what exactly do you think I was talking about
specific please
omg - tell me what exactly do you think I was talking about
The system “reporting” and actioning posters using alts to mass flag singular posts, it does not do this, the system relies on those very same mass reports to action someone, in most cases it will ONLY action whoever got mass flagged… not the person using alts to mass flag.
If we start asking moderators to cater to our own personal dislikes (when an ignore feature exists) it would get pretty empty around here.
It sure would be nice to be able to ignore people who hide their profile like the OP.
