There’s a good chunk of us who aren’t satisfied with the way the forum moderation system currently works. A few improvements would go a long way. Here are some suggestions:
Give us a comment box that we can type in when we flag a post. The categories currently provided are way, way too broad. What does “trolling” actually mean to Blizzard? Why is something “inappropriate”? Providing a comment box that we can fill out and submit with our flag will go a very, very, very long way in providing clarity on why we think x is violating y rule. Writing “X is a confirmed alt of y and z and is spamming the forum with the same topic with those alts” in the report is much more informative than clicking “spam” and expecting mods to figure out why a harmless Anduin/Sylvanas thread is being reported.
Stricter enforcement of the CoC. Let’s be real here – there are a lot of things that get to fly free as a bird. The running “this forum has no mods” joke is a thing for a reason. The hammer needs to come down harder to help actually get rid of the toxicity around here.
Removal of the daily flag limit cap. It’s silly to limit toons to 5 flags a day. There are far more than 5 naughty posts made a day, and all this cap is doing is hamstringing those who are trying to help draw attention to the toxicity.
Make flagging “per-account” rather than the current “per-toon”. There is no reason why I should be able to flag a post on one toon, then swap to an alt and flag it again to get it hidden. That encourages degenerate behavior and quite frankly wastes everyone’s time. Once you flag a post on a toon, that should be the end of the person’s ability to flag something.
Review ALL flags, rather than those tied to hidden posts. It shouldn’t take 5 flags to get a post reviewed. A prime example of why this is currently bad is that you can do a post history search of profanity, replacing words/letters as you see fit, and find posts that have been up for years because 5 people didn’t flag it. That’s absurd.
Related to #6 - punish people who abuse the flagging feature. “I don’t agree with you” or “I don’t like this person” is a common reason people flag messages. The flagging system is very often used as a “dislike” or “downvote” option. It’s annoying and wastes everyone’s time. There needs to be a point where the false-flaggers are dealt with.
And one should not be protected because they used the right buzz words while being toxic.
This wouldn’t be a problem if we had the down vote back. Hell it doesn’t even need to hide a post you down vote. And don’t give me the “well you should explain why you disagree” when we are not required to explain why we agree with a post. That road goes both ways or at least it should.
Better yet, purge the forums. Remove post counts, remove likes, remove status level, disallow posting links, videos and gifs. Start from zero. Have a basic forum. You pick your posting avatar for your account.
no, it was capped because people were mass false flagging as a happy trigger, your colleagues and probably yourself, abused it
this is also something they don’t want to do, they want you use to “abuse” the flagging system to see whos doing said happy triggers and then give said person a good vacation
I think its a good way to catch people whos doing wrong flaggings, leave it like that
I disagree with everything you have said here, Humanbeak. I stand in direct opposition to your stated goals, and would like to suggest that Blizzard withdraw from the Official Forums and make them unmoderated so that we can say whatever we please.
100% this. You can’t rely on the community to moderate when the community is toxic. Some blatantly abusive posts get hundreds of likes instead of getting reported. Trash community.
I still remember all the vile things you posted about in the past. Then you deleted it. Changed your toon to a girl and suddenly being all “uwu I’m so supportive” to people you insulted in the past.
