Thank you for an insightful message without tearing me down. I do appreciate that.
And you might find this shocking, but I agree. Sadly I am a sucker who still tries to see good in mankind too. I know. . I know.
What do we do about this, however.
Could the path of least resistance, AVs that last for days and weeks, keep those who only want that least resistance playing? What do we do when ques for AV take hours and days just to pop?
It’s a rock and a hard place analogy. Do we go for the longer AV’s? Or do we go for the version that is a part of the patch being released?
While the fears that at 60 everyone is going to zerg are real, its not guaranteed. The make up of these new servers will be bigger than Pserver people, Returning people, or converts from live. Its going to be a mix of all types.
Do we get a fun and playable AV that might, might get zerged or do we go with the longer more pve focused av that might not get people queuing for?
I prefer 1.12 version by a lot. But at this point I just want them to release an older version because people non stop complaining are going to be super annoying and probably ruin the experience anyway.
And the map has literally changed. As well as content being missing and nerfed. You could argue that it wasnt good content but to say it didnt change is objectively wrong. I would agree that its people that play the map differently because whether its because the incentives to do so changed their habits or that the players themselves decided to do it on their own is up for debate.
That’s fine except that reinforcements added a new win condition which is actually a huge change to the map beyond just adding or removing some NPC’s.
And historically we can look back and see that the big change in play style from long drawn out games to primarily rushing coincided with reinforcements being added not with the last batch NPC removals in 1.11 AV.
So yeah I have little reason to think that classic AV won’t play the same as 1.12 did at this point as we won’t have reinforcements.
Hmmm, I’ve had quite a few end due to reinforcements. Not sure what time period but I remember somewhat often convincing people to go capture mines to extend our reinforcements, which led to us winning a battle of attrition.
Turtle and capture mines, happened quite a few times.
Ugh you think if you played AV from Vanilla to now you would see it. The way in vanilla was played out is that people did myriad of different objectives. Taking the mines, towers and even handing in scraps, armor, blood etc. A lot of those people do not do anymore besides taking the towers and mines and just rush for the end and wait. If you played during those times you could see it.
I’ve brought examples and information on what I can remember and how I see the difference and all you can do is just say “you’re wrong”. Bring some information to the table on why you think im wrong.
