So that’s why the game got so much better with Wrath
The original game design only existed for tanks and healers. Dps could be good at all parts of the game with a single spec. That’s bad game design

Or worse, depending on who you ask.
as a healer, switching between dps and heals specs is absurbly expensive. dps usually can do dungeons, raids, and pvp in one spec so lucky them? healers and tanks get hosed big time without dual specs. it was a great day when it was introduced, lemme tell ya.
From what we just saw in Classic, this isn’t true. The optimal PvP spec and the optimal PvE spec are different for pretty much every class. Now, if you want to talk questing, then yeah, dps raid spec is fine. However, tanks and healers generally had social benefits for their sacrifice. They got geared first. If they pug, the get groups almost instantly (literally instantly for a tank). Heck you even see tank selling their services. Oh, and tanks and healers can still go out in the world and kill mobs, they’re just not specialized at it.
As much as that may benefit some tanks that’s a negative consequence to the game caused in part by the lack of dual spec.
That’s the big difference of then vs now. Back then most people treated wands like they were the plague when they ran out of mana and would rather stand there and die then wand if they couldn’t regenerate enough mana. Now we know better. I wouldn’t call getting an instant invite to groups being a healer or tank much of a “sacrifice” when you take 30 seconds longer to kill a mob though.
Tanks were still able to do this even when we had dual spec. I was also here for Wrath. I remember it clearly. It’s probably part of the reason we eventually got the LFD tool, and they had to bribe tanks to use that remember?
That’s not different that a crafter with a rare pattern charging extra for his services. If there is a shortage of something, people are going to charge for it. Because there will always be someone willing to pay.
But…the game is supposed to be like it was back then. That’s the point of bringing it back out.
To add to what Sprecks is saying, people are willing to pay the cost of tank respeccing, but they’re still having trouble finding a tank. What does that tell you?

Then play a tank or a healer. If you do you’re one of the few who don’t want dual spec. While there’s some dps who want it for pve and pvp by far the request for dual spec is driven by tanks and healers just as it was 15 years ago.
What I’m saying though is a lot of these limitations now were self imposed back then. I mean I solo’d as a holy priest, I just happened to spend the majority of my time drinking every two pulls. Now it isn’t as bad and totally more manageable than ever.
I’ve already told you, I do just that. Druid is 64 now btw. But as I’ve told you, your argument of “I just don’t want to do it.” Isn’t compelling enough for them to drop everything they are doing and changing the design of the game for you.
people are willing to pay the cost of tank respeccing,
While you might find an occasional group willing to pay a tank 100 gold I doubt that’s the norm on most servers. It’s definitely not the norm on my server. And that doesn’t compensate for the time spent redoing your talents and bars twice
I love all the people telling us to reroll a different faction or level an alt. So basically you solution is to just not play what you want because it’s not playable, instead of simply having blizz implement something early to fix the problem.
Also if I have to pay a tank 100g to run a single dungeon, then do I got out and farm 100g as a healer? That logic is flawed.
Imbalance is what makes this game fun. Go away.
Maybe we should all roll mages so we all have lots of gold and just turn this into a single player game. That seems to be what many people would like
Tbc 14 years ago was fine without dual spec and was also one of the better/best expansions. These pro dual spec people are coming off as entitled little s … funny alot of people trash talk retail but also seems to want a lot of what retail is about brought into classic. A lot of people are doing fine right now with dungeons and farming because they made friends with others and also are in a active guild that communicates with each other… try it …tbc does not favour solo players
Tbc 14 years ago was fine without dual spec
It may have been fine for you then and it may be find for you now but If you were actually around then you’d know that the forums were flooded with requests for dual spec as much or more then than they are now. A significant number of people were not fine with no dual specs back then too. For those who want the authentic game you’re getting it with all the people asking for dual spec. It was the most talked about change requested back then
Yes I know but it wasn’t implemented in tbc so why play this version of the game knowing there’s no dual specs and that it would grief you and others so much. It’s classic tbc not classic tbc plus people need to stop complaining and enjoy the game for what it was. Bad enough alrdy we have store mounts running around and seals for both factions…
