This is exactly what I’ve always thought would work best:
I don’t mind grinding out current rep on whatever character, but no chance I feel like going back to old content just to max out my bars.
I was even just sitting here thinking account wide rep can mean lots of things too.

I think the best solution would be 4. Requires you to clear an entire areas reps but still opens the rewards up. Also each character still has thei own bar to grind

I wish account-wide rep would happen mostly because my main back in the day has exalted reps with factions you can’t grind anymore. I would gladly grind them on this character if they were available but alas account-wide rep would be the next best thing.
Love this idea - old rep gets account wide, current rep is character only.
I’m definitely in the altoholic category and I would find it extremely… anxiety reducing? Hah. – to have some of the reputation go with my character when I reroll them.
I do love questing and leveling up characters but am getting overwhelmed by the carcasses of all the half-played characters I have stacking up and taking up space. I also don’t like the feeling of HAVING to play my shadow priest in BfA because she happens to have all of these old reps.
Have a BoA faction rep tabard (similar to normal except it glows). You get this when your reach Exalted.
Grants 1-100 rep for doing faction related content, even if the content does not normally grant rep.
Or when you run dungeons (would say raids except at level raiding is very rare).

I was exalted with stormpike guard in 2008 yet I have only won 17/100 AV games according to the AV VET achievement…

What they could do to satisfy both camps is make surnames with families that your alts can all belong to (or not, it’s voluntary). They could then share a joint “family” bank account (put it near the guild banks somewhere), achievements, gold pool, reputations, and of course the surname.
You could even do multiple different families and get all RPish with it.
Never is a long time. I hope it never becomes a thing.
How the heck would it satisfy everyone ? Why should someone else get rewards for doing nothing while others earn them.
No, I don’t want my low level alts getting killed every time I fly into booty bay because I forgot one of my characters was hated.
No I don’t want my alts questing in Sholzar Basin to be hindered because I’m exalted with the oracles because I still haven’t gotten the green proto drake.
If you want rewards from a particular rep vendor on an alt, then go play the game and earn those rewards on that alt.
I agree. The account wide exalted reps is one of the best things they’ve done recently, but I would also like to see more things go account wide. I have 0 interest in trying to keep up with a dozen alts anymore, the only thing I should be considering when I pick a main is, “is this class the most fun to play? Do I enjoy it more than the other classes?”
The only rewards from rep vendors that aren’t already accountwide is gear and profession recipes.
If you want rewards that aren’t already accountwide, go play the game and earn them on that character. If there is something you can’t get, don’t worry as long as you don’t delete the other character you’ll still have access to it.
TBH the last thing this game needs is more account wide things.

People that don’t want their characters linked together wouldn’t be obligated to do so. It would be an optional feature.
It does not matter. It takes away from the game for the people who don’t want account wide rep when the rewards they are earning are being given to others for free.
Lets pretend blizzard introduces an entirely optional system - all your characters can get mythic raid quality gear mailed to them. You seriously think that isn’t going to have an effect on the game or the people who want to mythic raid ?
In any case, blizzard is not stupid enough to do this.
I also wish they would stop people who aren’t even subbed from posting on this forum.

You’re talking about credit for “Champions of Azeroth” allowing you to do the upgrade-quests at Magni right?
Yeah that was definitely a nice change.
But instead of all rep being account wide, I would almost prefer that things like Azerite Power be account wide so that I won’t feel guilty about not not working on grinding AP on my main while taking a break to play some alts.
