Ignite Munching is a long admitted bug that was (re)introduced with TBC but has not yet been a serious issue in Classic because it wasnt yet common to have simultaneous crits as fire … until now. With Living Bomb dot crits and explosion crits and fireball+instant pyro crits all getting smashed together, ignite munching is going to be a major factor.
Having to use clunky queue-canceling macros to avoid a spellbatching bug is extremely unsatisfying.
tl;dw
- When two fire spells crit and land within a spellbatch window, one crit’s ignite will be “munched”, meaning it will not contribute to the next ignite tick. Basically, every time there is a munch, you lose out on 40% of the damage that spell did, so if a fireball crit for 10K damage and was munched, you would miss out on 4k dmg.
- This results in up to ~10% loss in DPS in ICC
