Sure. In my view, sightless ends to in-game activities that most people find generally unfun is bad game design because it leads to a negative player participation feedback loop. I’ll also note this concept is not limited to just this grind in particular; there are several instances of this implemented throughout WoW’s history, some of which has been hinted at already.
because it’s no fun, why shouldn’t it change?
I think this is also a symptom of bad game design for what it’s worth.
It’s not about denying a pity system for achaeology. Personally, I don’t care one or the other. It’s more about trying to calm people down that are acting like not getting their archaeology epic is the end of the world
you’re missing the point. Clearly.
have you had much success in telling upset strangers that the thing they are upset about doesn’t matter? probably not
Well, people are investing a ton of time into what I deem to be a bad system so they’re understandably frustrated. I’m just here to voice my support for a change I’d like to see and looking to spark a dialogue over it.
Guys and girls, I made this post to hopefully start as a petition to get blizzard to implement some sort of change to this horrible grind.
Please lets stick to that. If you don’t agree, you’re welcome to that opinion. If you do agree, please comment and hit that heart at the top.
I’m missing the point about my own point? I don’t think so
If it upsets you then stop doing it
Sure, but if they’re getting frustrated and aren’t having fun then they can just…stop doing it. Sure, ask to change it for the better and all, but people are acting as if the first raid tier will be completely ruined if they don’t have their item before Cata launches, and that’s frankly ridiculous
Like I said, it’s not about denying the fix, it’s about getting people to stop acting like the entire raiding experience hinges on whether or not they can get a single item
the main issue is not that it will or won’t ruin the raid tier for everyone who doesn’t get it, it’s that the gameplay is boring, it is a potentially massive rng grind, there are known bugs in the process, and it’s the only current progression pathway for most people.
i never said it upset me, you said that you interact with strangers who
i just asked if you think what you are doing is useful or ever has any positive impact
There are absolutely people acting like that is the issue
Yes archaeology is bad. No on making it easier. Let it say as a gambling minigame, people still report over 1000 solves in retail for cata epics. They go for them because of how unique the appearances of the sword and scimitar are.
so what? it’s a bad system and people are mad about it, I don’t expect perfect rationale from every degen wow player I just ignore it
How about they actually fix archaeology. Might be a bit more manageable if every artifact could actually be found so that you can ‘finish’ a race and have its digsites show up less often. Fossil’s pterrordax hatchling and some other commons for dwarf and night elf seem to not be appearing for anyone at all.
This grind is making me want to pull my hair out and everytime I see a fossil site a die a little more inside. Please dear god do something about the missing solves.
So…those are the people I’m talking about? I don’t understand why you’re trying to argue with me when you don’t apply to the people I’m talking about
because you are conflating those players with the rest of us, seemingly in attempt to minimize the issue, also because while they might not direct their frustrations in a constructive manner, they are valid.
Please don’t put words in my mouth. I literally said I’m not talking about you and the people like you. I didn’t even respond to any specific person with my initial post, so if you felt targeted by it that’s your own issue
well oopsie, my bad. Feel free to constructively add to this thread in the future sans my unhinged criticism
