Please just make them all cosmetic or lower the ilevel to 346.
Theres no way I’m doing this ludicrous grind and it feels bad to be punished for it

joined the 2000 solves club today… still no staff/sword/trinket. please add some form of bad luck protection. I’m literally begging
My alt is up to 300 will report back with the hopefully good news later tonight or tomorrow. Taking a quick break for a lil icc 10 achieve run.
If it’s cosmetic then there’s no need to reduce its item level.
it is a rare discover, that you cant do.so it keep the bad lack protection from activating since you cant complete the fossil items.
I’m not talking about the Pterrordax pet.
I would like to add that on retail, I over 7k total solves and I’ve never seen a 359 weapon. Looks like my luck is gonna run the exact same way in Cata classic.
Edit: I’m, never gonna get the cool sword transmog qq
The problem is that Blizzard put these items in the game with the intention of it being the driving factor of people getting and interacting with the Archaeology profession. This leads people to believe that Blizzard would also make these items obtainable while they are upgrades for your character. Nobody is saying to make them easy to get, even if they made them guaranteed after farming for a week straight the vast majority of players would not get them because the grind would STILL be ridiculous and not worth it to most people even with that guarantee, Doing the raid is going to take 1 to 3 hours, where you’ll get an equivalent item in that time most likely within the first 3 to 4 raids, meaning you’ll spend 3-12 hours playing to get an equivalent or better item than this one that takes something like 40 to infinity hours to get, the point is the amount of effort should match the reward and playing a video game should be fun. People are clearly telling blizzard that this grind isn’t fun because of how its designed, any time a video game feels anything other than fun, its time to stop playing it all together, so its in blizzards best interest to make the systems and farms and grinds fun, this one is rather universally considered not to be at this point. Fix it.
To quote taliesin , “It was a sh*& show obviously”
LoL this thread is hilarious , I love archaeology its relaxing and has some very rare items that could give some guilds a little bump in early cata dun/raid.
Stop agonising over not being the one getting it because im sure if you had you wouldnt be here whining like spoilt children.
It does have extended value as a pseudo heirloom (BoA) item that multiplies value as you have more alts. If you have that item, any alt you have in the future will have a great 85 weapon out of the gate, whether its phase 1 or not.
I’m not discounting that it is more valuable at the start, but it does retain its value throughout the expac.
I don’t see where they said otherwise. Only that its value is inflated short-term, which is true.
Real talk the cause of it was being able to get 359 items with a 450 profession level. Name one other profession that you can craft 359’s right now. Should have made them not discoverable until 525. Then this whole grid doesn’t happen and people just play the first phase like normal. But now you are going to have some people with like 2 raid epics before you can even level to 81.
I would like to see some BLP.
I got my Tyrandes doll yesterday after 150 NE solves and am now focused on the staff. Dwarf dig sites are so rare (ALL FOSSIL over there with some Troll). We should be able to reasonably farm the faction we are going after.
There are also 5 dwarf digsites in Twilight Highlands that we can’t access yet.
yea just with what we can access it is like 8-9 fossil and troll to 1 dwarf…just silly as far as I am concerned
I’ve been over this already with Bobomumu, scroll up a little that was addressed just before that reply.
I mean if you read the discussion it’s obvious I am already aware of the transmogrification factor. Since in the paragraph in which you quote only 2 sentence, I am addressing exactly that. Seems either disingenuous or a poor display of reading comprehension in this instance. Bobomumu at least seemed to try to understand my points properly.
And of course the transmog argument is also weakened by the fact that a non cosmetic trinket is one of the rarest rewards. Also the shield’s model is far from unique. And as said multiple time if they didn’t deem adding short-term good gear as the rarest reward to be a mistake, they would have kept adding them in the following patch expansion. They didn’t.
All points I made already in the discussion which wasn’t that spread out. If you truly cared it wouldn’t have been that hard to read it all so you don’t join a discussion missing a lot of context. But either you didn’t bother or you chose to ignore the context.
Yes part of the problem is that it can be farmed in pre-patch I agree.
Though my preferred solution is making the items less powerful to reduce incentive.
That way most people will aim for them as the original design intention was.
If they are only as good as a blue you can get in a dungeon quite easily, a lot of people who are spending their time unwisely right now wouldn’t bother.
As I said before though, it’s too late for either of those options. The skeleton crew apparently overlooked the problem.
