Please fix archaeology

Yeah, personally I’m banking on just dungeon->heroic->raid->HM rather than assuming I’ll get any much less all of the epics.

That said, as someone who also has alts, I’m just assuming I won’t realistically get them for alts either. With the condensed calendar and 2-3 different raids I’m committed to, who has time to keep farming Arch after launch lol

Profs/rep grind/etc. Which I do think is part of the argument FOR buffing it so it’s more appealing in the face of opportunity cost, but ultimately I am not the core audience, just someone observing and tinkering around with it for an hour here and there.

You’re not a 99 parser and you’re not anywhere near being in a top guild. You’re not being paid to play this game.

If you care that much despite all these facts, you need to stop and think about all of this. Really question what you’re wasting your time for.

Lmao I might not be a 100 parser but I am most definitely a 99 parser, look at naxx or ulduar or togc and this hasn’t even been my main for a single tier its just an alt. But what does being in a world first guild or getting 100s have to do with caring about getting an item?

Yeah 100%, I’m not really farming Zin’rohk full time, just sometimes, I’m more concerned with gearing up my Rogue with Scourgestone gear (Ilvl 239 atm) so that it’ll have a smoother run to 85 for that character.

I’ll likely run my Mage, Druid and Rogue through dungeons to level them and then my Hunter, Warrior and Paladin I’ll just level through questing.

Those classes because I can’t get enough gear to get into Gamma dungeons and I don’t want to spend the gold on gear that’ll get replaced very quickly.

I plan on raiding with at least my Mage and Rogue, the others will depend how I’m feeling really.

As in you’re only doing Archaeology for that long? That’s good, won’t get burnt out that way.

Why do you care about it? Or rather, why do you care so much that you’d be willing to throw away 100k gold and 50 hours of time farming a single item? I really think you’ve got an odd obsession with this and the healthy thing would be to really examine your thought processes here and try to let it go.

He wants it that way, why do you care? There are no rating requirements for items. Every day people come here dumber and dumber and blurt out their stupid opinions.

Even blade of eternal darkness got a boost in original classic.

It did? What was it?

They boosted its drop chance to ~5% eventually.

Was that in response to Mages farming it, or was that just a random increase in drop chance?

I care because I’m trying to help someone who obviously needs real help, I’m not someone like you enabling them.

I’ve been saying that people should be taking a break if they’re stressing too much but I guess some people just want to keep chasing the dragon.

Yeah.

Blizzard should change it but there’s people out there sacrificing their mental and physical health over a single item in a video game. People who don’t need the item. They don’t need it and they’re having mental breakdowns over it.

People need to learn self-control.

Yeah I agree, Blizzard should increase the chances of getting it just so that people won’t spend days locked in their room doing nothing but going from dig site to dig site.

The dungeon alternatives are fine, it’s not the end of the world if you’re using a weapon from a dungeon rather than from Archaeology and all this is going to lead to is them getting burnt out on Cataclysm before the expansion even offically comes out.

I’m taking a casual approch to Archaeology, I’ve already gotten my staff but even before that I was only doing ~1 hour a day, 2 at most. Even now I’m still doing Archaeology for Zin’rohk for my alt but to think that there’s people that’ll willingly do it for 10+ hours…

I asked one such person how do they keep themselves sane from the tedium of digging all day and the response I got was “no one likes you” and “It’s called (bleep) discipline”. Such an answer from a simple question of what do you do whilst digging.

Archaeology has created two groups of people, those that have the epic they want and those without and the ones without are lashing out at the ones that have, it’s such needless hostility that honestly it only makes me more concerned for them.

Ummmmm #Some changes for 1 Secondly Look at everything they changed with wrath And The game is better for it By the way.

I would Even if they are a rare drop in retail which honestly i’m not sure But either way Just because that’s the way it was back on the day doesn’t mean it was good.

If something is bad I say change it Is an archaeology if you’re spending 100+ Is ours doing it or even 10+ Hours and it’s all based round rng.

Yeah, that’s just not fun.I say change it

Then don’t do it.

They could change it, because the items don’t really matter. But i wouldn’t hold my breath

What if blizzard made it so you can do a max solve of 100 per day.

Bump if you’ve burned yourself out and cancelled your account of blizzards silence on this garbage gameplay.

If you cancelled your account because of archeology prior to the release of cata, then you were never making it all the way through cata anyways.

I am convinced blizzard back then realized making strong epic gear acquirable through archeology was a mistake. And archeology itself wasn’t much fun to do for a long time. Which is why the relevance of it’s rewards are very low in the following expansions.

So why did they not “fix it” in Cata? Well to me it seems that the company invest a lower amount that would be necessary for truly making classic better than it was. And it is following that assumption that I assume it more likely the lack of change for this previous mistake is due to an oversight and wasn’t intentional.

Why do I believe the company choose not to invest much into making classic better? 2 examples that come to mind.

  1. We can buy WoW token now in classic, but you cannot purchase it if you are not currently subscribed in WoW classic. It is a feature only available in retail and it would have 0 detriment to classic if it was possible to do the same there, but we cannot because they don’t bother investing into making that improvement.
  2. AoE loot. It has been a feature in retail for as long as classic exist. Yet they haven’t bothered implementing it in classic still. No disadvantage to having aoe loot, only advantages.
